Food Wave is an innovative project launched by the Municipality of Milan, involving 15 million young people between the ages of 15 and 35 in various actions such as climate change, a greener future, and an inclusive and sustainable future for European cities – with particular attention given to urban peripheral areas. The project was developed by the Municipality of Milan and the International Relations Department of the Mayor of Milan’s Cabinet, together with 16 international cities, 13 civil society organisation, and the C40 global network.
We aim to work with the younger generation in fight climate change through the adoption of sustainable practices in urban food production and consumption. Youths, the environment, and solidarity are the project’s three primary ingredients, and they serve to not only develop a new perspective for urban growth, they also contribute to the creation of a new alliance among future citizens, local communities, and mayors.
