Hey guys!! So today, November 16th, is World Sanfilippo Awareness day, and I want to take a second to talk about Sanfilippo Syndrome, as it’s an issue that’s become very close to my heart.

Sanfilippo Syndrome is a genetic disorder that is often likened to childhood dementia. Essentially, due to a slight genetic defect, kids with Sanfilippo lack the ability to break down certain types of cellular waste. This cellular waste cannot be avoided- it’s literally just natural waste that your cells create as you exist. Because those with Sanfilippo cannot break down this waste, it accumulates in their bodies and leads to brain damage.

Which means, when they’re young, kids with Sanfilippo Syndrome develop completely normally. Sometimes they are misdiagnosed as autistic due to the hyperactivity typical of kids with Sanfilippo, but physically, they seem healthy. They learn to walk, talk, even do well in school. However, as their disease progresses, they lose every single ability they’ve ever gained.

Imagine being able to walk and talk and play when you’re 5 years old, but by 8 being wheelchair bound and nonverbal. This is the reality of kids with Sanfilippo.

The life expectancy of those with Sanfilippo Syndrome is mid to late teens.

I’ll say it again: mid to late teens. Let that sink in for a moment. This disease not only robs them of their abilities, but it also eventually steals their lives.

Sanfilippo Syndrome is a monster, and there is no cure. However, there HAVE been numerous clinical trials with promising results. The only problem is that these clinical trials are EXPENSIVE and are fueled purely by donations.

If you have even a dollar to give, it would be so amazing if you to donate to the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation (which was actually started by the family of a young girl with Sanfilippo) curesanfilippofoundation.org/

If you are unable to donate, that’s okay, but the least you can do is help to spread awareness. The more people know about Sanfilippo, the closer we get to a cure.

These kids deserve a future. They deserve more.

It’s up to us to fund these clinical trials and to save these kids. Share this post or create your own, light social media up with purple and unicorns (the two symbols of Sanfilippo) and educate yourself and others. Donate if you’re able, and more than anything, please please please spread the word and encourage others to do the same. Awareness is the first step 💜

I know a lot of my viewers are middle school/early high school aged, so I just wanted to put a little reminder out there that if you are able to take AP or dual enrollment classes, ABSOLUTELY do it!!

It feels like a lot of work but I promise you that it will make your life so much easier in the long run. Obviously don’t overload your plate with too many hard classes, but if you have the capability and ability to take these classes, you should definitely do so.

I started my freshman year of college this fall with 51 credit hours, and I’ll be starting graduate level courses in the spring. As a result, I’ll graduate with my bachelors degree in 2026 and with my masters in 2027 (so I get a masters degree for my 21st birthday… yay 🥳)

Putting in extra work when it’s not necessary is so worth it and your college experience will be so much easier because of it. You guys are all so smart and so capable and I want you all to succeed to the highest of your ability 💓

some of the easiest AP classes that I recommend for anyone interested are:
AP Human Geography
AP World History
AP Psychology
AP Literature
AP Language and Composition

but honestly, as long as you’re interested in the subject and you’re willing to put the work in, all of them are so worth it. always make sure to check with your intended college or university to see if they accept that course’s credit though, because not all of them do!! but if you have the opportunity to take any of the above classes, do it 🥳

just remember: don’t push yourself too hard, but push yourself hard enough that you’ll get the benefits you deserve in the end 🫶🫶🫶

being a swiftie is so silly because you’ve got one side of the fandom that’s super surface level and is just like “ooh Cassandra, that’s a cool name, interesting choice” and then the other half is like “did you know that Cassandra was a Trojan prophetess who was destined to always give true prophecies but never actually be believed? and so they killed her because they thought she was being dramatic even though she was actually right and was trying to warn the town about what was coming for them? and so taylor is comparing herself to Cassandra in the fact that she writes about how she’s not to be glorified (dear reader) and people shouldn’t try and do the things she’s done (clara bow, the lucky one) but no one believes her and they still insist on placing her on a pedestal??”

guess which half I’m a part of 🤪
