I'm now building a metal halide flashlight based on ceramic arc tube lamp(ceramic MH has a greater efficiency and are more compact than quartz ones) and electronic ballast ( mass reduction).
battery and inverter (heaviest components) will be in backpack. currently only lacking elements are reflector and handle.
