@ThePostApocalypticInventor really nailed it with his intro on this latest video. This is a major problem and one we face everyday whether its generator repair, small engine repair or just about anything. This is why so much ends up in the trash when it could easily be repaired.

@KensSmallEngineRepair commissioned @VintageEngineRepairs to do some photoshop work. Not bad. I think Bob would have approved @bobross_thejoyofpainting

In search of a Kawasaki FA210D Carburetor. This carb seems to be unobtainium. If you have the impossible and willing to sell, please let me know. Likely Kawasaki part # 15001-2093. The engine number is FA210D-ES05. Have not found parts diagram for that exact engine number.

Thanks everyone for the overwhelming amount of support regarding the Honda EM500. Many emailed me about the 6 pin connector and I think we have a match. Also many emailed volunteering their services for designing the PCB. Bill would like to take the lead and design the PCB. It is great that so many talented people came forward to offer their services to help save a well designed piece of history. At some point we plan on building several boards that will fit properly into the generator. At that point we will need a few volunteers to install and rack up the hours to make sure the design is solid. Bill bought an EM500 today so he is the first. I am willing to bet Justin will be the second. If you have an EM500 and you want to be part of test, let me know by sending me an email. Thanks --Jim

Residual magnetism is a small magnetic field left in the iron core of the field (rotor) when the generator is at rest. Most modern Honda clone generators with an AVR have small permanent magnets on the rotor that ensure magnetism will not be lost. Older generators without an AVR and some modern ones do not have permanent magnets and rely on the residual magnetism go excite the system. If residual magnetism is lost, the generator will not produce power. When this happens, the field must be “flashed” to restore power.
