Just a couple of pics of the property after the storm had passed. The first one is of the road that leads out of here. There's still 12-15 trees that need to be cleared before I can exit.
House intact but no power or running water in most of the City of Asheville and surrounding areas. Cell service slowly coming back. Water and food distribution has started, slowly.
It will be months before anything returns to normal and it won't be the same, regardless. People lost their lives and there's no turning back from that.
I can't even imagine how terrified the bears must have been. They have never experienced this before, there are no hurricanes in Western North Carolina.
I'm not going to set up an account for donations. I'm one of the lucky ones. I'm writing this post from the local hospital parking lot. I'm fine but my mother, who lives with me, needs help. I trust you'll understand if I don't monitor the channel for a few days.
Give your loved ones a hug tonight, and maybe say a little prayer for Ruby, Daisy, Enzo, Gus, and all the other usual suspects. I'm worried sick about them.
