The HPRG in support of the history symposium entitled “Celebrate!” which was held August 2021 at Council Bluffs, IA to remember the 175th anniversary of the Mormon Exodus across Iowa, and the founding of Kanesville, and granting of Iowa statehood in 1846 share videos of some 40 presentations.
The symposium was sponsored by the Mormon Trail Center at Historic Winter Quarters in Omaha, NE and the Council Bluffs Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in collaboration with the City of Council Bluffs. Speakers included scholars, local historians, overland trail experts, archaeologists, geographers, museum curators, who shared the history of the Latter-day Saints in Iowa from 1846 -1853, and key growth in the history of Council Bluffs.
