Interesting test of random growing mediums for seed starting. This is after about a week and a half. Note: none of them is an actual seed starting mix, and the top performer is plain old potting soil(!) - the chunkiest of them all. So much for sifting the soil for "delicate" young roots. I'm convinced that seedlings just don't care how chunky the soil is, but they do seem to care about what's in it. I was surprised (and thinking maybe I screwed something up) because pure peat moss performed so badly!!! I'll retest this at some point and include seed starting mix but, for now, I'm just going to use potting soil.
