On a festive roll with color monotype prints created with Akua inks, a plexiglass plate, and a wooden baren (no press required). This is the 4th post on the process in a series. www.belindadelpesco.com/color-monotype-printmaking…

More Monotype Fun in the studio.... layers of peaceful color. The plate is an 8x10 piece of plastic snipped from the top of a tomato produce box, the ink is ‪@akuaprintshop4511‬ intaglio, the paper is Rives BFK from ‪@LegionPaper‬ - the transfer method is by hand with a wonderful wood baren made from a felled tree in the Scottish Highlands by woodworker Ian Whyte of Highland Wizard Crafts on Etsy. I'm having so much fun with these monotypes, there are many more to come. Have you made one lately?

Monotype printmaking without a press in layered colors is this week's project in my studio. I'm working on a table surface that measures 30" x 27" to prove that YOU can make these prints without a press, at your kitchen table. I hope you can gather inks, a china marker, 2 plexiglass sheets (one to print from, and another to use as a mixing palette), a reference photo, a wood baren (or a spoon), printmaking paper, a brayer or two, paper towels or rags, maybe some brushes, and rubber gloves. There's more on the channel, and also over on my blog. Jump in! The water is mighty fine!

While staying in, let's make some drypoint etchings from recycled clear plastic packaging. You know those see-through containers your produce and baked goods are packaged in? Pull one out of recycling and snip a few squares or circles from the plastic so we can make a drypoint print. You can transfer the print to paper with a metal soup spoon. And when the print is dry, you can paint it with watercolors. Here is a round-up of blog posts and video tutorials to walk you through, step by step, so you and your family can make some drypoint etchings at the kitchen table: www.belindadelpesco.com/make-a-drypoint-print-from…

Do you struggle to come up with titles for your art? I used to agonize over this part of studio management, and it delayed my applications to shows, messed up my inventory tracking and killed some potential sales when I didn't bother to title paintings at all. So, I designed an art titling system that works every time, and made an online course to teach you how to name your art too. Visit www.howtotitleyourart.com/
