MY DEBUT ALBUM āPEARLā OUT OCT 25 - TWO WEEKS AWAY!
I never thought iād make an album.. i grew up pre internet and filled endless days hyper fixating on the family record collection. i obsessed over every album sleeve & lyric sheet- perfectly articulated concepts by fully formed unicorn humans. inspiring! completely unattainable.
that couldnāt be meā¦ i was the much littler awks sister in a loud house who seemed to have shown up to this party (life) a little late & never understood the jokes at the dinner table. understanding the music became a way to relate. school was confusing as the only cultural references i knew were aimed at people ten + years older than me lol but i buzzed thru, letting my nervous hi nrg flitter me around. in high school i lived with some other families for a while so i learned their music languages too.. after school i volunteered on community radio where i could put my hyper fixation on music to good use. i found friends who had similar obsessions and a place for that hi energy: the club! my first ādj gigā was at an italian restaurant. I started making music around then too- but djing kept me so busy keeping up with all those new languages! over the years iāve played every kind of gig there is. i found myself looking for connection in new rooms, cities, scenes, countries, genres, then new decadesā¦ over the years i became really good at finding that common groundā¦ but who was i musically if i didnāt have to?
i got club singles out, and at times i got close to catching itā¦ but make a whole album? nope.
well a million baby steps laterā¦ Iām proud to announce my debut album PEARL is coming out Oct 25 on @nlvrecords - made alongside some special ppl whoāve been there all along. more about the album soon, but enjoy these random throwbacks so u are under no illusion that this moment came without a fight - & once u have stopped lolling at looks from bygone eras - GO PRE-SAVE MY FUCKING ALBUM!!!!!!!!! šin bio:)

this is me & @lulubeyene in LA back in march. she is an incredible vocalist & producer originally from chicago, now in LA. i reached out to her after hearing a few of her songs like āHANDLEā (which is an absolute heater btwš„) i sent a demo hoping she would like it but she actually picked another song from my folder, one that i didnāt even hear a vocal on! i had started this particular song way back in march 2015 ~ always loved it but not known how to finish it. in one day she had taken it to where it had always been wanting to go! i knew how to finish it after that.
