Happy New Year everyone!

Apologies for the lack of new film uploads. I had a very rich seam of new films to mine but unfortunately the copyright standing is vague. Thereā€™s a small chance it may still happen.

I have a completed film from months ago, coloured and upscaled to 4K, which was going to be an upload but then I decided it was to be a section of a bigger project. Iā€™m now enhancing this original film even further (Youā€™ve never seen anything like it ) and the bigger project is static for the moment.

Another upscale, I completed months ago, 1 part of a 4 part shakey black and white WW2 documentary, will eventually get an upload, when I complete the remaining 3 parts but maybe not on this Channel. And I havenā€™t started work on the 3 remaining parts yet. This is also in colour and has been upscaled to 4K, colourisation was also used to enhance atmosphere and not just colourise.

Related to this, I also have some Hitler and Eva Braun footage which has seen a lot of work but still requires some heavy manual correction. Previous AI correction methods having failed :\

Most excitingly, Iā€™m now working with old cinema films. Iā€™ve spent many hours on a classic black and white film from the mid 40ā€™s. Taking a few small sections from the very visually noisy, scratchy, dusty, rough original to the pristine full technicolour of the 40ā€™s. The finished work is so lush the eyes eat it up like itā€™s edible. Itā€™s phenomenal, nobody is utilising the tech in this way yet. This will be huge!! And definitely not a Channel upload. We are on the cusp of a new era of film restoration, the tech is just about there with a lot of extra manual work. That manual work will diminish as the AI improves.

Sooo, uploads? I have a few films I took down in order to replace copyrighted music found in some sections. I will add these back to the Channel soon. A few "shorts" from yet another work in progress, original colour film from 1926, will get an upload. Maybe a short or 2 from the ā€œbigger projectā€ mentioned above.

Iā€™ll keep my eyes open as ever for film to work on. Iā€™m ideally looking for unique film. Something that is not already on YT. If anyone has some interesting, fair quality 8-16 or even 35mm film or an online source for original film then please get in touch.

And again Happy New Year to one and all!

Hellooooo!!

Iā€™m back!!

Though I havenā€™t posted since July Iā€™ve been busy researching and experimenting with different processes and settings.

The result, clearer defined faces, cleaner films, more detail restored, the introduction of colourisation, the introduction of ambient sound fx and films now upscaled beyond HD to 4K.

Colour
The colourisation speed, options and results are incredible. None of the leading film restoration channels on YT are currently using this method. More realistic colouring is now possible and the ability to work fast to add nuanced ambience to different scenes through different colour palettes. Instead of a flat colouring right through an entire film a dynamic colour range is now possible. This allows for a much more satisfying and realistic viewing experience. Previously this could take hours of extra work colourising numerous reference images per scene. In fact, there is no previously, no one took the time to do all that work.

And weā€™ve barely begun. Itā€™s a watershed moment.

Sound
Previously, were the film was originally silent, the sound I added was music only. Iā€™ve now introduced environment sound fx, the sound of the crowd, a truck passing, dogs barking, laughter, excited children etc. This further draws you in to the film.

Image Detail
Machine Learning (AI) is rapidly improving, in all the areas I work with at least, film, graphics, audio, animation, writing. Taking advantage of new developments but also optimised current methods to draw out the maximum from the software used. Details are set to improve further as advancements are made. Face recognition improvements especially are on the path to breath taking.

Editing
Exploring and utilising software to further improve the viewing experience. Colour grading films for a more natural feel.

4K 60FPS
Upscaling to 4K is processor intensive and it currently adds a long extra delay to film production. This will change soon as I utilise increased processor power to speed things along.

Soooo, you can find 3 brand new films on the channel that feature all of the above improvements and they are available to view right now -

Blackpool North Pier, 1903 - https://youtu.be/P7P0TSy8wQ0

Tower Bridge Road Market, London, 1931 - https://youtu.be/TZEnlNWPO4M

New York, East Side, 1949 - https://youtu.be/S68Hv55M79w

Please Like, share, comment etc :D

More films are already well in to production. :D

Chicago, 1909. Upscaled and coloured.

I've had a break from creating videos as the heatwave here in England makes long stretches of intense processor use a no go. More videos coming soon. :)

It's real, it's not AI generated. I restored the image and coloured it. Early 1900's French designed and patented motorcycle, the aim is not to frighten horses in traffic.

Excited crowds surround a steam tram in the centre of Wigan, 1902. B&W originals coloured and used to aid AI to colourise the B&W film from which these stills were extracted. Even with 4 reference images the AI still fails to colourise the film correctly. Still waiting for some advancement in the colourisation tech :\ - https://youtu.be/27_7qTAIGCM
