My wife Lindsey and I love our community and want to spend some time trying to improve it by helping where we can. We are always looking for ways to help our local #lgtbqcommunity 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ My entire #youtubechannel is dedicated to spreading the word about trans issues and showcasing my life. I want my audience to see that a trans person can have a regular life. I hope to show cis gendered people that trans people aren’t scary monsters. We are just regular people trying to live our lives. We have families, jobs, goals, and ambitions just like anyone else.

8 years ago today, what was then the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history occurred at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, FL.

I still remember the deep shock and sadness I felt waking up that morning to the news of 49 souls lost to senseless hatred. The entire Central Florida community, but especially the LGBTQ+ community, was forever changed by the event, and the aftermath is still felt to this day.

Please keep the victims and their families in your hearts today, as today is one day of Pride month when it's a little harder to be cheerful.

I wanted to take some time to introduce myself. I know I’ve been around and many of you have followed me throughout my journey but I wanted to start fresh and start letting you all know more about me.

For starters my name is Alexis. I’m 39 years old and live in Central Florida. I have 3 children, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. By day I’m a web developer. I know my own small development agency called Impossibly Creative. I’m obsessed with Disney and my absolute favorite character is Cinderella. Cinderella is the most relate able to my transition. She goes from rags to riches but manages to keep her positive attitude despite how she is treated. Watching the transformation scene where the Fairy Godmother changes her from her torn up dress to her gorgeous ball gown really hits differently when you are a trans woman.

Over the course of these posts I will be sharing my story. You will be able to see me for who I am not what I am. I’m documenting my adventures with my wife and kids and using some toy photography to do it. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while and I’m excited to share it all with you.

You may know Lili Elbe's story, but you may not know what she actually looked like!

Elbe, one of the first trans women to undergo bottom surgery, had her story made famous by the film 2015 "The Danish Girl" starring Eddie Redmayne as Elbe. Sadly, the film was not the most accurate portrayal of such an important part of trans history.

Tragically, Elbe died following complications from her fourth surgery. The process of bottom surgery was still incredibly new and experimental at the time but has since become much more standardized. Perhaps even more tragic is the research & data created from Elbe's surgeries was destroyed, along with all of the research by the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, by the Nazis in one of the most famous book burnings of the early Nazi regime.

For more information Elbe's story, visit lilielbe.org.

“I think trans women, and trans people in general, show everyone that you can define what it means to be a man or woman on your own terms. A lot of what feminism is about is moving outside of roles and moving outside of expectations of who and what you’re supposed to be to live a more authentic life.” - Laverne Cox

Now that we're in a new year, there's no time like the present to live authentically and be your whole self. Don't stay a caterpillar forever. Be a butterfly!

Today, I hit a milestone I didn't think was possible a year ago - 500 subscribers on YouTube!

After Hurricane Ian destroyed my house and upended my life, I didn't have a lot of hope. I tried to push on, but creating content was harder and harder to manage as Lindsey and I picked up the pieces of our life. A year later (to the day!), I'm back where I can be consistent and think creatively again. I'm finally starting to feel like my whole self again.

That my return to consistency is yielding rewards isn't lost on me. I've worked hard to find this stability, and I couldn't have done it without my family, friends, and a host of other special people in my life. I can't thank any of you enough for propping me up when I needed it most.

Thank you all so, so much for your support. Next stop, 1,000! Hopefully, it doesn't take as long to get there ;)

“Come see the violence inherent in the cis-stem” - Monty Python…kind of 😉

I’m probably not the first trans woman to make this joke 🤷🏻‍♀️

But seriously, #transrights are under attack more than ever and we need our cis allies to step up and prove their allyship. The time for sitting on the sidelines is over.

Nearly two years ago now, I met the incredible Amber at Eclipse Tattoos for my #starwars #thebadbatch piece. Little did I know she’d become such an amazing friend 🥰

As I celebrate #maythe4thbewithyou today, I’m reminded WHY I got this piece, as it is perhaps my most meaningful tattoo. #cloneforce99 is unique in Star Wars because they were considered broken by so many, but those “broken” traits are what make them so powerful. That sentiment resonates deep within me as a #transgender person. What society sees as my greatest weakness is in fact my greatest strength.

We now know part of the Bad Batch, Omega, as a trans icon, but I firmly believe the entire crew stands as icons for the trans community- outcasts doing the work to protect the most vulnerable in the galaxy even when their own lives are at risk. That is the trans community ethos at its core and it is why we continue to fight for the rights of others even as #transrights are under daily assault.

As you celebrate #starwarsday today, pause for a moment and remember what the stories truly stand for. Look around you and see what you can do to help those who are less fortunate and fight the Empire oppressing them.

Apart from announcing breaks and a notable exception, I don’t often share my mental health struggles publicly anymore.

Today, I’m breaking from that because it needs be to said: It’s okay to not be okay.

My personal issue are just that, but it is important that everyone understands that some days, your friends, family, or even the person you just met are fighting an internal battle you will NEVER understand. They may seem “okay” to you until they’re suddenly very much not because they are masking.

Masking is a tactic used by just about everyone to hide what they’re really dealing with because they don’t want to bother others. It is frustratingly common while being maddeningly unhealthy. I’m as guilty as anyone else.

Lately, I’ve tried pushing myself on YouTube, announcing I’m coming back to make videos only to fail to meet the goals I set for myself. Each time, I’ve had an an attack before filming, including once as I sat down in the chair to film. That’s why promised videos haven’t appeared. I literally had panic attacks over filming them.

I share all of this because this feeling is more common than you know. All of your favorite creators struggle. They just do so more quietly, or have better access to resources that prevent them from getting in too deep.

Please take this as both an apology and a commitment to improvement. I’ve gotten back on a regular therapy schedule and am taking medication for my anxiety. Im doing the work. Life’s just HARD right now.

Still, I’m committed and confident things will get better. Some days are just harder than others. I hope you are too.

It can and will get better.
