I've had fun painting this old store from an historic town in my state: Hill End. I'm uploading the video now. Hopefully it will be visible soon. And I hope you guys enjoy watching it. :-)

Hello friends! It's been a while since I've uploaded a movie. Busy times with having deadlines for shows, and other commitments. But I have been filming my work in the vertical format for Instagram, so check that out if you'd like to see what I've been up to. But for you, I've uploaded a "Short" which shows palette knife painting. Such fun, especially when I see the timelapse! Days of work condensed to 60 seconds. Hope you enjoy it. I've managed to put the title in the wrong spot at the end: It's called "Related Details" oil on canvas, 100 x 76cm. Soon to be shown at Mist Gallery, Cabarita Beach, NSW Australia. Cheers!

Hello! Just a quick update to say that my Seascape video is almost ready! Well, it might be another day. I'm having editing problems due to lack of space on my computer. So I'm trying to empty an old hard drive. I won't bore you with the details, but I hope to have this one uploaded on Wednesday night (Aussie time.) Just to complicate things, we are starting a ten day holiday tomorrow, in the motorhome. We are camping for a few days at a time, so I'll have time to edit and paint! Fun. xxx

Hello painters and followers,
Missing you all! I hope every one is well and busy with painting.

I'm slowly coming out of a crazy working period. After completing 16 large canvases for my solo show "Abundant Waters", I delivered them in July at the start of a new covid outbreak in Australia. The gallery was closed to the public. I was grateful that they hung the works, and we were ready for the "lockdown" to lift in two weeks. But sadly, the covid has spread from one to 600 daily cases. So it is still closed.

In July I painted a daily watercolour of Le Tour de France. This involves watching the race overnight, selecting the scene to paint, painting it, then up loading to the web site, and wrapping and posting any sold paintings. It was a crazy time.

I have not visited my studio since then, as the 5 acres that we live on are totally in array! So, I am now gardening every day: weeding, hedging, burning off piles of sticks, cleaning out the chicken shed, and the other sheds! (some had been flooded in February, and still full of dry mud!!)

My husband is disabled by a stroke, so his ability to maintain a property is restricted to what can be achieved by a tractor! So my next project will be cleaning up his garage, and getting his tools in order.
The I'll return to my studio, and start painting again.

My break from painting is helping me to focus on my next works.
Also I am thinking of what I can do for you guys, in the form of new videos. More watercolours? more acrylics? Or should I start doing some oil painting videos? I'll have a think. :-)

I have my paintings on my web site: www.shirleypeters.com.au
My Le Tour de France paintings are on: www.bikeartbyshirleypeters.com
(hope these links work!)

All the best to you guys, I look forward to getting back to an uploading routine, so in the meantime, stay well.

Hi painters! I've been away painting for some while now. My apologies for not uploading any videos lately. This photograph shows that I have one "in the can" and I am planning on that being finished tomorrow. It will need a voice over as the audio was impossible on that windy hill.
I must say, painting En Plein Air is the best discipline for the landscape artist, akin to life drawing for figure work. I am lucky to have teamed up with a few other painters, and we are meeting regularly at spectaclar places to paint.
I might start using my old blog: onepaintingeveryotherday.blogspot.com to upload the photographs from these painting sessions.
But, the main reason I have not had time to do videos is that I have a solo show coming up. I'm booked in for July 1, and I have the grand total of ONE painting finished so far. So I'm in panic mode: the Plein air have been keeping me busy, and we've had two mini-holidays lately. Not to mention flooding rains!
Uploading will be intermittent for the time being, until my life settles back into some sort of order.
Honey sends her love, as do the chickens, and of course, Bob.
Regards, Shirley.

New video! I'm trying to keep the time within reasonable limits, which means that my paintings are a bit 'under-done'. If I was painting this one to sell, I'd take more time on the foreground. But it gives one the idea of how to place dark silhouettes over an easy background. A fun technique.
