Some people doubt the benefit of daily mantra meditation: "What is the use of repeating the names of God mechanically and unfeelingly? Better to wait till we get the feeling of devotion and then chant wholeheartedly."
This doubt originates because they mistake the causal relationship between feeling & chanting for being one-way instead of two-way. That is, the feeling can inspire chanting, but chanting can engender feelings too. Letās take a closer look at these two scenarios:
Feeling as a springboard for chanting: This applies primarily to two categories of people. For advanced devotees, the feeling of devotion is a constant inner reality that expresses itself as constant chanting. For those who are devotionally inclined but are not practitioners, an intense devotional stimulus or an unsolvable problem may sometimes induce the feeling of devotion & impel them to chant.
Chanting as a gateway to feeling: This applies primarily to the spiritual practitioners who lie between spiritually advanced & spiritually inclined. Unlike spiritually inclined, who are satisfied with occasional & short-lived feelings of devotion, practitioners long for feelings that are sustained, substantial & transformational. They want to redirect their love from matter to Krishna in a real & tangible way. To bring about this redirection, they apply the guideline of the Bhagavad-gita (12.09), which states that the practise of regularly remembering Krishna increases oneās attraction to Him. This guideline implies that the feeling of being attracted to Him is a result of remembering Him & not a precondition for remembering Him.
Of course, practitioners do experience devotional feelings periodically. But knowing that at the practitionerās level feelings can be fickle & fallible, they donāt make feelings fuel for their devotional journey, for they donāt want their journey to be sporadic & erratic. They replace feeling with commitment as their fuel, thereby ensuring that their journey towards Krishna is steady, smooth & swift.

BHAKTI YOGA
When we start practicing bhakti yoga, we may expect to relish great joy because we are connecting with the one who is the source of all joy: the all-attractive supreme, Krishna. The Bhagavad-gita (09.02) assures that bhakti-yoga is joyful.
However, we may find that our bhakti practice is sometimes tasteless. Why is that? Because the taste in bhakti comes when we connect with Krishna when we offer our consciousness to Him in a mood of loving service.
Unfortunately, our consciousness is presently contaminated by many impurities. Due to these impurities, we feel tempted by some worldly things, seeing them as sources of irresistible pleasure. Or we feel threatened by otherworldly things, seeing them as sources of unbearable trouble. When we are thus tempted, threatened, or otherwise distracted, our connection with Krishna gets interrupted, and we canāt relish bhakti.
These impurities are our spiritual diseases. And the cure for the disease is to somehow or other connect with all-pure Krishna, for that connection will drive away the impurities. During this purificatory phase, when we are striving to connect with Krishna, we need to see our bhakti practice as a medicinal dose. That is, we practice bhakti not for its taste but for its effect.
If we thus keep practicing bhakti, we will be cleansed of our impurities and will start connecting with Krishna more steadily. Through that connection, we will become better absorbed in Him, thereby relishing devotion naturally, joyfully, and eternally.

The bull is the emblem of the moral principle, and the cow is the representative of the earth. When the bull and the cow are in a joyful mood, it is to be understood that the people of the world are also in a joyful mood. The reason is that the bull helps produce grains in the agricultural field, and the cow delivers milk, the miracle of aggregate food values. The human society should maintain these two important animals very carefully so that they can wander everywhere in cheerfulness.
We must try to make the cows and the bulls happy in all respects. We may not understand how one earns happiness by making the cows and bulls happy, but it is a fact by the law of nature. Let us take it from the authority of ÅrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam and adopt the principles for the total happiness of humanity.
Wishing All A Very Happy International Day of Happiness.

Govardhan Ecovillage was honored with the SKOCH
Platinum and Renaissance Award for its Water Conservation Project from the then Finance Minister of India, Mr. P. Chidambaram, Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman of the Planning Commission of India, Mr. U. K. Sinha, Chairman of the Securities Exchange Board of India, and Mr. Sameer Kochhar, Chairman of the SKOCH Foundation.
Govardhan Ecovillage works with nearby tribal villages and helps them with water conservation. The Govardhan Ecovillage Team analyzes such villages to identify seasonal sources of water, such as natural springs, that can be used as a resource for continuous water supply to farms for irrigation of more than one crop.
Accordingly, a customized approach for water resource development is provided. A three-pronged approach for water resource development by Govardhan Ecovillage includes community-owned lift irrigation systems for perennial irrigation facilities, drinking water facilities, and water resource conservation through check dams and restoring community wells and ponds.

Govardhan Eco Village (GEV) is a farm community set up to highlight the importance of living a life in harmony with nature.
It exemplifies a model for the whole world that is self-sustainable and takes proper measures to both conserve and protect water.
To identify proper spots for water harvesting, recharge, and discharge areas, Govardhan Ecovillage employed a thorough survey of the groundwater flow patterns, called a hydro-geological survey.
The entire process involved the following steps:
1. Hydro-geological mapping
2. Employing geophysical techniques
3. Water Level Monitoring of wells in the area
4. Aquifer test
5. Analysis of collected data
Based on the analysis, spots were identified in the Eco-village that were good points for recharge and discharge of water. Currently, our rainwater storage pond has a capacity of 90,000,000 liters.
With this rain-harvesting pond, the greenery and biodiversity of this region have increased substantially. They could also reduce dependency on the pumping of river water over long distances. The landscaping water requirements were also met through the ponds. Underground water levels increased.
