Winston is just a baby, only 10 months old, and yet his body has been through a lifetime of pain. When he arrived at NJ rescue A Pathway to Hope, he was hours away from being euthanized, his tiny frame wracked with a life-threatening urinary blockage. His owner, unable to manage his care and unknowingly contributing to his condition through improper nutrition, had run out of options.
As a result of never receiving proper cat food or vital nutrients, Winston developed a severe Vitamin C deficiency that left his bones brittle, fragile like glass. Scans told the rest of the story: old pelvic fractures, a fresh spinal fracture, and a body too broken to even posture to urinate. That inability led to repeated infections and agonizing blockagesā¦ each one slowly ki||ing him.
It took four different hospitals, endless tests, and a team of specialists to uncover the truth. Confined to a hospital bed at Eclipse Specialty, Winston is hooked up to IV pain meds, a urinary catheter, and slowly accepting spoon feeding and Churu treats- small steps on a long road. Heāll need at least 4-6 weeks of strict crate rest just to give his bones a chance to heal.
Winston is fighting for every tomorrow, but he canāt do it alone. Right now, the only thing standing between him and a healthy future is the cost of keeping him in this fight. His initial hospitalization alone carried a cost of over $2,000. The ongoing estimate for Eclipse Specialty Hospital now totals $9,718 before a generous 20% discount. To every single one of you who donated, shared, and sent love for our sweet rescue kitty Poseidonāthank you doesnāt even begin to cover it. Because of your kindness and generosity, he now has a real chance at the beautiful, pain-free life he truly deserves.
Poseidon is doing as well as possible right now on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to help clear the severe mucus buildup in his nasal cavity before his big dental day on August 6. His vet gave us great newsāhis bloodwork came back clear and strong, which means heās a great candidate for surgery. Once those rotted and cracked teeth are removed, weāre hopeful his breathing will improve dramatically.
Weāve been so touched by the outpouring of support for this gentle soul. The love youāve shown has been nothing short of incredible, and itās clear that Poseidonās story has reached the hearts of so many. šāā¬š©·

UPDATE 2: Poseidon is doing as well as possible on antibiotics/inflammatory meds to try and reduce the overwhelming mucus in his nasal cavity pre-dental surgery.
His full dental with extractions is scheduled for Aug 6, and his vet said his bloodwork looks great and unremarkable, so she feels getting his horribly rotted and cracked teeth removed should resolve his nasal congestion issues!
So, all positive news so far, and we are so grateful for all your help and everyone who has shared his rescue story. The response to his journey has been so beautiful and positive, and we are eager to get him fully healthy, healed, and give him the best, pain-free life he deserves š©·šāā¬ šŗš¾
UPDATE 1: Poseidon needs help! He went in for surgery for his severe dental disease but the vet found he's still very congested-even after a month on antibiotics. He now urgently needs to go to VCA Animal Hospital to rule out pneumonia (his dental will be rescheduled, but he still desperately needs it too). Poseidon was found alone, starving, and extrememly weak. He was severely dehydrated, dangerously thin, and covered in fleas and parasites. š
A kind person began bringing food, slowly earning Poseidonās trust. When he was finally brought to the vet, they found a painful mouth infection and severe dental disease. He desperately needs full-mouth extractions to recover.
Miraculously, his microchip traced back to Rescue Kitties of Hawaii - the same rescue that had saved him once before. Now back in their care and safe in a foster home, Poseidon is slowly gaining weight and showing his sweet spirit. But he still needs full-mouth dental surgery to truly heal. His procedure is scheduled for July 1, and donations are urgently needed to cover the cost.

UPDATE 2: Ivory has started to improve with the medical treatment she is receiving. She is eating better and gaining some weight. Her foster family is providing the nurturing she needs to relax and feel comfortable after the ordeal she endured. She is due back at the veterinarian in a few weeks to be retested and to determine what medication and treatment will be needed for her long term care.
UPDATE: Ivory hasn't been eating well since her rescue, and A Pathway to Hopeās vet referred her to a specialist. An ultrasound revealed thickening of her GI tract and an enlarged liver and spleen, raising concern for lymphoma. But this is not a death sentence.
