For over four decades artist Al Bright has explored the realm of abstract expressionism. He has mastered the technique of integrating impasto textures with skillfully blended surfaces. His paintings are powerful expressions of color, texture, form and design. Evolving from spontaneous improvisation, Bright's paintings parallel the rhythmic quality of jazz. Al Bright earned his bachelor's degree in art education from Youngstown State University in 1964 and his master's in painting from Kent State University in 1965. He is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Art at Youngstown State, where he has taught for 45 years. He has inspired thousands of students over the course of his years in higher education and is recognized internationally as a performance art pioneer. Creating many of his works in front of public audiences to live music singles him out as a leading post-modern master.
