I love building lab equipment from recycled materials that means finding retired or non-working electronics gear, tearing them apart and then repurposing them for something new. I am a molecular biologist by training with a PhD and a Post-Doc and a hobbyist electronics guy. In my day job, I help develop products and applications for genomics such as high throughput sequencers and have been lucky to work for companies such as Illumina, Thermo Fisher at the leading edge of the field. I have also worked in the Genome Engineering field, where my group developed ways to modify the genes in human cells.
