When my careerĀ was first starting out with Dax, I remember everyone telling me, ā€œWow, you made it. You're doing what you love!ā€ and when those words were spoken, I always felt so weird about it. I mean, yeah, I love to dance, I love swing dancing! And I love to see the world. So is this emptiness really what happens when Iā€™ve ā€œmade itā€? I drifted for years until I understood why.Ā

To say I wanted to make a career swing dancing was too broad.Ā

Just because you love the dance doesnā€™t mean you are going to be fulfilled doing anything and everything to do with Swing Dancing.

Now my husband? He thrives in a live class setting. It is his stage. I have seen him have food poisoning and still be driven to teach. Me? I like teaching but I LOVE to do it specifically online. And that was a hard realization. I pretty much had to tell Dax I wasnā€™t being fulfilled doing what our entire lives and relationship and been based around. WOW.

But luckily for me, Dax and I are on the same page with finding the most fulfilling work via our online business, just for different reasons.

So I ask: Are you really doing what you love?
And if you think you are doing what you love but you are still not fulfilled I ask: Are you being specific enough?

Maybe you see the lifestyle a top traveling teacher has and you think that is your endgame. But is it really? Because the swing dance world has so much to offer. You could write blogs, be a social media influencer or run a local studio. You could rather be a historian or advocator for safe spaces more than actual social dancing. GET SPECIFIC.

I encourage you to take a few minutes and write down all the things within the Swing Dance world that truly brings you joy to be involved in and all the things that don't.

When you are done, I would love for you to comment below all the little, specific and amazing parts of the Swing Dance world you love.Ā

Sarah here, have we properly met?ā£
ā£.
I live in Boise, ID šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø
Iā€™m 33 years old.
My mom says I was almost born in the toilet.šŸš½ I guess I was eager to take on the world. šŸ”„
Iā€™ve created two humans šŸ‘¦šŸ»šŸ‘¦šŸ». Huxley and Beaudry.
I am married to my Swing dance partner. (So romantic I know.)
We help people around the world learn to dance.
.
I remember years of dancing before my ideas about the mechanics of the dance matured.
I had all heart and passion but my body couldnā€™t always execute my ideas.
I couldnā€™t enjoy a fast dance without burning out quickly.
I could see a dancer I liked but couldnā€™t explain WHY it was good.
.
It wasnā€™t until I met my now husband and travelled the world, teaching people of all skill levels and language differences that not only did my own skills get stronger but I was able to help others do the same.
.
ā£šŸŒŽ Now, we have an online dance school where we can reach even more people.
šŸ’«We have a mission to help people feel their best, most musical and creative selves on the dance floor.
.
šŸš€Our school consists of over 300 lessons including foundation programs and specialty topics. You can check it out (Links in our bio) or go to rhythmjuice.com
.
Iā€™ve been spending all month planning our 2021 strategy and have some pretty exciting things coming up so make sure to *subscribe* and turn on notifications to be up to date!
.
ā¤ļøThis is a safe and inclusive space. ā£
I really appreciate you taking the time to read this.
Since you have gotten to know me a little bit, I would love to know more about YOU!
.
ā—Tell me about yourself in the comments below,ā£ or ask me anything you want to know,ā£
and Iā€™d love to know how you got here šŸ‘‡šŸ»ā£

Sarah here! I've been learning the Trickeration routine after seeing it all over the web. There was a really cool project called the GLOBAL TRICKERATION PROJECT. You can see the full project video here: https://youtu.be/1QURnOUBUk4

Unfortunately for me, multiple breast infections, moving cities, closing our local business and selling our house in a couple months' time prevented me from making the project deadline. (I know, excuses right?). But itā€™s never too late to spread the word of Norma Miller and her contribution to the Swing Dance community.

As Dax saw me learning this routine he had the idea to share our Trickeration course for FREE so that the stragglers (aka ME) can still learn this fun routine. So will you join me in learning this?

In exchange for this FREE course, we ask you to donate what you are able to the Frankie Manning Foundation. You can see more info about the Global Trickeration Project and a link to donate here: www.ilhc.com/global-trickeration.

*And a huge thanks to Adam Brozowski and ILHC for starting this project.
