Bob Marley made a Bossa Nova song in Brazil called "Pray for Me"?
My favorite song ever, despite the medium-quality sound. This song was recorded in Brazil during Marley's 1980 trip. I'm so in love with this song, the chord progression, and the profound melancholy of it.
The song is from "Mother B's Bedroom Tapes", a tape found in Cedella Brooker's room in 1981.
I've tried to find information about the songs for years without success. I contacted Junior Marvin about it but have never been able to get in touch.
I would love to have more information about it:
- How did Marley end up recording this song and who are the musicians?
- The chord progression or inspiration of this song?
- Another version? Where is the original material and could a restoration be possible?
Note: There's an interview snippet from Earl Chin's 1980 interview where I think Bob plays a little sample of the song. I think they misinterpreted it to be "coming in from the cold" and Bob ended up playing it. (https://youtu.be/SmizvyIw2YY?si=qBc-F... at 44:42)
