Shared_Studios creates immersive Portals to connect people across the globe. Our mission is to foster empathy, spark curiosity, and build community across borders by using technology to create meaningful and impactful interactions between people from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.
Portals are gold-painted shipping containers equipped with immersive audio and video technology. Each Portal is placed in a public space in different parts of the world, allowing people to enter and engage in real-time conversations with people from other parts of the globe. The Portal project has connected people from diverse communities in over 50 sites worldwide, including refugees, artists, activists, students, and professionals.
We collaborate with a range of partners, including artists, universities, nonprofits, and cultural institutions, to create these experiences and foster dialogue and connection across borders.
