Hope you are enjoying the first two episodes of the Ranking the Retros Roundtable podcast. If you haven't checked it out yet, go ahead, boot it up and take a listen to hear myself and 3 friends talk about the old NES black box games. I know I've been slacking on the review front, which I apologize for, but to make up for this, that Four Against Darkness intro video should be ready for public consumption sometime next week. I also hope to actually get a review out next week too, but whether it's the game I planned or something else is yet to be determined.

You might be wondering what I've been up to, since the reviews have been light this month. Well, I have a few games at the ready, but don't have the motivation to actually write up the actual reviews, mostly because I've been working on other things. In an attempt to apologize for this semi-lack of content, let me give you some insight on projects I have been working on for 2025. Myself and a few friends will be releasing a podcast in which we rate some 8 bit games against themselves. Look forward to the first episode in the first week of January. I've been working on a personal retrospective on one of my favorite game series of all time: Doom. I'm hoping to have this out around springtime, if not sooner. Finally, I've been putting together a video series on a tabletop RPG game called Four Against Darkness. These videos will focus on the overall scope of the game, how to play, and a look at the expansion books. I hope to have the first of these videos out by the end of January.
So even though I haven't been incredibly active with posting content in December, rest assured, I'm still working on stuff! Here's to an awesome 2025!

Unfortunately no review will be put out this week. I have two games that I'm working on, but one isn't terribly interesting and I don't know if I'll be able to make a quality review out of it. The game is, well, one of the absolute best RPG's that I've ever played for the 16 bit era. Another hint: it was not released in the US at the time. So yeah, with it being an RPG, it might take an extra week or so to complete. I hope to do another Days Gone stream at some point, and I have another project in my head. With all the stuff I'm working on, reviews might be on the back burner until I catch up, but rest assured, I've still got plenty of material to talk about!

Unfortunately I'm going to have to delay review #500 for another week. I need a bit more time to get a bit more footage for stuff that I had missed. Be assured that I'm working on it though.

My apologies for not having any content in the past few weeks. I wanted to spend a bit more time on my next review, but then I got a pretty nasty sinus infection and was confined to my bed/couch and had no motivation to do the editing. I almost did a stream where I didn't even talk just to give you guys something, but that felt like a cop out. I should be caught up this week. As for streaming, I decided to take April off to work on other stuff, but I plan on starting streaming back up in May. For some reason I'm thinking of streaming the Heaven and Hell trilogy on the SNES (Soulblazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma). Thoughts?

I've decided to not do any further streams of Alan Wake 2. Although I am thoroughly enjoying the game, I feel like the pacing may be too slow in the spots in which I get lost to be exciting to watch. I'll come up with an alternate option in the next few days.

My apologies for lacking on the reviews this month. I've been spending all my free time working on another large project encompassing Doom. I've actually started it prior to the whole 30 year anniversary thing, but it seems like a good tie in. I don't want to get too much into it, but know that I'm replaying every Doom game I can find for a video. In the meantime, check out Jerz's new gym and see the struggles he's having in running it.

We had originally intended to stream Simulacra today...but let's just say Jerz had some critical equipment failure. Due to this, it will have to be postponed for next Sunday. Don't worry. I have a review all set for this week and the next "normal" game to be streamed picked, so there will be content. In addition, the next episode of Stranded Deep will probably be released next Wednesday, since my work schedule has calmed down and I'm not working so much OT.

So it doesn't look like we'll hit 850 subs by the end of the week. But that's okay. I'll still do something special...when I get back from vacation in the middle of September. Until then, I hope to get one last review out before I leave, and you can expect the next few episodes of Stranded Deep every Wednesday. Due to me doing some other projects, I probably won't be streaming anything for the next few weeks, but we'll get to Far Cry at some point!
