As-salamu 'alaykum wa-rahmatu-Llahi wa-barakatuhu (Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings) “Whoever listens to the recitation of a verse of the Qur'an, his reward will be multiplied several times, and whoever recites it, he will be a light (nur) on the Day of Judgement” “Does not the remembrance of Allah calm the hearts?” (Surah Ar-Ra'd, verse 28) “So give good tidings to My slaves who listen to speech and follow the best of it. These are the ones whom Allah has guided. They are the people of understanding” (Surah Az-Zumar, verses 17-18) “And when the Qur'an is recited, listen to it (attentively) and remain silent that you may be shown mercy.” (Surah Al-Araaf, verse 204) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever can recite the Quran skillfully [in the original language] is at the level of the angels. But whoever recites the Quran hesitantly and with difficulty [but making an effort, studying and trying] has received a double reward.
