I apologize for the lack of normal posts. I’ve been under the proverbial weather for the past week but will hopefully be back up running soon.
Rest in Peace, the great Frank DeVito (8/14/1930-1/22/2024)🙏❤️ Frank was one of the final links to the legendary years of jazz, the Baja Marimba Band, the Wrecking Crew…and was one of the nicest & hippest guys on the planet😎
Merry Christmas to everyone and my sincere thanks to everyone for supporting my channel over the years. My one and only goal is to keep alive the music of all of these amazing drummers, and to (hopefully) open the eyes & ears of the younger generations to the musicians who are responsible for everything we do now🎄🥁❤️🙏
I took a look at my YouTube analytics and discovered that 90% of my channel viewers are NOT subscribers. I would greatly appreciate if you don’t currently subscribe, please do! The only reason I ask is that YouTube does a lousy job of recommending small channels like mine. Getting more likes & more subscribers is the only way the channel will get better exposure.
Keeping the names of the jazz drumming greats alive is the sole reason for this channel. Every passing year we lose more of the precious few drummers that are still with us, along with the older fans who comprise their biggest audience. We need to have more young musicians & lovers of music exposed to the greats. That’s the only way we can be sure that they won’t be forgotten.
NOTICE! After posting new videos every 2 to 3 days for the past couple years, I had to take a little bit of a break. It’s not for a lack of material. I just am a bit fried. I’ll be back up and running shortly!
Very fitting for Memorial Day - thanks again to Charley Braun for providing the audio and many of the photos that allowed me to create this video:

A jazz drummer of 35+ years and collector/historian. I have Spinal Muscle Atrophy & have been in a wheelchair since 1981.
I started the first website dedicated to Gene Krupa in 1997, which now has a Facebook group: America’s Ace Drummer Man: Gene Krupa. I also moderate two Buddy Rich groups on Facebook: Buddy’s Lounge & Buddy’s Place.
I also run a Facebook page dedicated to legendary guitarists Tony Mottola & Al Caiola: The Living Guitars of Tony Mottola & Al Caiola. You can find me on Facebook under the screen name “drumuitar”
This channel is primarily centered around jazz & big band with an emphasis on drummers, but also includes a mix of my other musical loves: bachelor pad, exotica, and easy listening/mood music of the 1950s-70s, as well as a smattering of instrumental surf rock and vintage Christmas music.
