US actor, writer, and director Jesse Eisenberg has been granted Polish citizenship by President Andrzej Duda , honoring his poignant exploration of Jewish history in WWII through his Oscar-winning film A Real Pain .
🎬 A Personal Journey :
Eisenberg’s film—inspired by his great aunt Doris , a Holocaust survivor who fled Poland in 1938—follows two cousins reconnecting with their roots. Tragically, family members left behind were murdered during the Holocaust.
During the citizenship ceremony, Eisenberg reflected:
“My family lived in Poland far longer than in New York… Tonight marks a step toward reconnecting with this beautiful country.”

“We are delighted when those across the ocean embrace their Polish heritage,” he said, celebrating Eisenberg’s dedication to bridging generations.
🏆 Oscar Recognition :
Eisenberg earned a screenplay nomination, while co-star Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for his role.
“This honor is not just for me, but for my family’s lost connection,” Eisenberg added.

The 82-year-old Pele, a famed Brazilian soccer player who came from barefoot squalor to become one of the finest and most well-known athletes in contemporary history, passed away on Thursday.
Pele passed away at 3:27 p.m. "due to various organ failures stemming from the progression of colon cancer related with his prior medical condition," according to the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo, where he was receiving treatment.
