I recently had the pleasure of presenting to a graduate class at Monmouth University in New Jersey on Transpersonal Therapy Modalities. This was my first experience presenting via Zoom to a group of students gathered in one room, allowing me to connect with them remotely from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, while they still benefited from an in-person group setting.

I introduced students to psychodrama and sociometry during the session through active participation. We began with "Step-in-Circle," an impactful sociometric tool for building connections and demonstrating the depth of sociometry. I also conducted several role-reversal exercises, allowing each student to introduce themselves playfully by reversing roles with an object and describing themselves from the objectās perspective. And then had a role reversal with Personal Strengths (Therapeutic Spiral Model) that provided a unique experience of self-awareness.

This technique is widely used in therapeutic settings to facilitate insight and promote emotional healing.

Returning to school after a four-year break made me feel like a freshman. But guess what? I survived my first semester at #fieldinggraduateUniversity! And what am I researching? Naturally, itās a video format for teaching psychodrama and drama therapy academically and professionally. My business, Action Explorations Education, is all about this.
For my Doctorate Competencies and Scholarly Inquiry class, I tackled āThe Effectiveness of Video-Based Sociometry Training for Psychodrama and Drama Therapy Learners: A Mixed-Methods Study Proposal.ā And in the Media, Technology, and Disruptive Innovation class, my final paper, 'Applied Sociometry' Video Course: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Creating Module 1, was all about video production for Module 1 of the course. The best part? My professors loved both papers, and I've received incredible support for developing my business project.
Going back to school felt daunting, but now I feel like I'm right where I belong. I'm excited to continue developing my academic research on video courses for therapy, education, and scholarly fields, all while embracing action methods. Onward and upward!
