😲 😲 Here is a surprise for you — the first new episode of The Mob Reporter to be released in five months. I had to take a break for a bit, I had other stuff to do and travelled, a lot. But here it is, a re-launch with a new episode of a gritty, original story of big city crime.

For those who like year-end lists, here is a list of the 11 most popular The Mob Reporter videos of the year.
This is based on total views in 2024, regardless of release date. Most of them (six) were released in 2024. Two of them were released in 2014 — ten years ago and still drawing a crowd. One was released last year; one in 2022; and one in 2019.
You might ask why I'm giving you a Top 11 instead of the usual Top 10. Let me tell you: It’s because the number 11th most-watched videos of the year is one of my favourites. I have had quite a few scoops, but this one is probably my biggest exclusive with an international significance. It did well, but didn't get the attention I think it deserves, so I wanted to fluff it up a bit.

📽 In between episodes, I thought I’d drop something a bit different for a bit of a fun diversion for the hardcore mob watchers among us. It’s a mob quiz, showing 10 scenes of famous gangsters in surveillance and media videos asking how many you can name.
Those who watched it seemed to enjoy it, but its appeal wasn’t wide.
I might try another quiz sometime, maybe over the Christmas holidays, if there is interest.

👋 👀 A NOTE TO MY SUBSCRIBERS: Some viewers asked me about my episode publication schedule. Funny you should ask. Let me tell you about it!
This video was published on a Monday. That’s a terrible time to publish and I’m frustrated about it because the video was ready early Saturday morning, but then the YouTube algorithm — which seems heavy on artificial but light on intelligence — decided it was not suitable for wide distribution on YouTube.
I immediately appealed, which can be a slow process.
The Algo never gives a reason, but I thought it could only have been the photo of Pablo Escobar’s demise, even though I had made sure it was fully compliant with YT’s community guidance by completely blurring anything potentially naughty.
To test my theory, I recut the video to remove that scene and reuploaded a new version, but this version was also immediately slapped with a “limited” alert.
And so, I had to wait. I spent the rest of the weekend appealing and arguing and emailing YT trying to have common sense applied to my video. I even had a circular conversation with a YT chat bot, which I assume is a cousin of the Algo.
It took until Monday morning for someone to hear my pleas. By then the weekend rush of viewers had passed, but I didn’t want to wait until next weekend because my episodes are time sensitive.
So, I deleted the watered-down version and gave you the original cut on a Monday.
I thought some of you might like a peek behind the curtain and know why my videos sometimes deviate from my ideal publication slot of a Saturday or Sunday morning.
