Lockhead and Dogrock is a new video and music project by Scottish producer, musician and film maker G. S. Martin. This stripped back, no nonsense sound - predominantly upright bass, keys and drums and of course the ever present crackle of vinyl, features collaborations with vocalist Jennifer Culross and poet Inditer Reciter.
The influences on this collection are likes of the Roy Ayres, Lester Bowie, Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, Harold Alexander, Gil Scott-Heron along side classic science fiction TV and movies of the mid to late 20th century. With a nod and a tip of the hat for the pioneers the likes of Dilla, Madlib and Premier - to name a few - who taught us that sampling is an art form in its self.
