The Gurudwara Sahib in Bahrain, commonly referred to as the "Bahrain Gurudwara," holds great historical and cultural significance for the Sikh community in the country. It is one of the oldest Sikh places of worship in the Arabian Gulf, serving as a hub for the Sikh diaspora and other communities in the region.

Establishment: The Gurudwara Sahib in Bahrain was established in the early 20th century, around the 1920s. It was built by the Sikh community that had settled in Bahrain, primarily for trade and business purposes. The exact date of construction is not clearly documented, but it stands as one of the earliest Sikh religious structures in the Gulf region.

Sikh Migration to Bahrain: Sikhs, along with other Indian communities, began migrating to Bahrain and the Gulf during the British colonial period. They played significant roles in various sectors, including trade, finance, and construction, contributing to the economic growth of the region. As their numbers grew, the need for a place of worship became evident, leading to the establishment of the Gurudwara.

Location and Significance: The Gurudwara is located in the heart of Manama, (Adliya, Salmabad, Budaiya and Bramco) Bahrain’s capital, in a busy commercial area. Despite its modest size, the Gurudwara has been a key center for Sikh religious activities and social gatherings for the expatriate community. It serves not only as a spiritual hub but also as a place for community service (seva), offering food (langar) to people from all backgrounds.

Cultural and Social Role: Over the years, the Gurudwara has grown in prominence and serves as a place of worship, cultural exchange, and social support for Sikhs living in Bahrain and the broader Gulf region. The Gurudwara Sahib also welcomes people of other faiths and communities, reflecting the inclusive principles of Sikhism. It is a place where people from various backgrounds gather during religious festivals such as Gurpurabs, Vaisakhi, and other Sikh occasions.

Recognition and Interfaith Harmony: Bahrain, known for its tolerance and respect for diverse religious communities, has supported the Sikh community's freedom to practice their faith. The Gurudwara has also been a symbol of interfaith harmony in the region, with people from different religions attending Sikh festivals and events.

The Bahrain Gurudwara Sahib continues to be a testament to the rich history of the Sikh community in the Gulf, showcasing the values of equality, service, and spirituality in a multicultural and multi-religious environment.
