Was driving along the highway in Guadalajara and I saw thousands upon thousands of these orange flowers, and I was able to snag a photo once we stopped - Sulphur Cosmos!

All but one variety in all of my seed cells have germinated, and they’ll all be going out in the garden quite soon!

Every morning I come out to my garden and I see native carpenter bees and bumble bees flying around my popcorn cassia and loofah blossoms, and squash bees waking up from a night's rest in my zucchini flowers. I see sweat bees enjoying my cosmos, and hoverflies on my alyssum and bolted cilantro flowers. Butterlies and moths on my zinnias, and birds all over my garden. I didn't realize how much joy this would bring me when I first started gardening, or how beneficial it would be for the health and growth of my garden.
All of these insects, animals and more find a home in my garden and in turn help keep pests at bay and increase my harvests, and so while I would love to take credit for all the beautiful and abundance that is my garden I can really only claim a portion of the process, as it is fundamentally a partnership with nature.

Oxalis, or bermuda buttercup, can be a controversial plant as it is considered invasive and spreads through little bulbs in the soil. That being said it is a SUPERB food source for honey bees and other pollinators. I see it everywhere around my area and don't mind it, but what do you think? #oxalis #bermudabuttercup #invasiveplants #invasivespecies #pollinators #pollinatorgarden

Do you recognize these corms? They are the spookiest looking thing I've ever gotten in the mail, but they will grow up to be full and beautiful. I'll give you a clue - their name is just as funky. #cutflowers #flowergrower #urbangardening #containergardening #gardening101

As summer gardening season gets closer I'm switching over more of my containers, that were on drip irrigation previously, to the Thirsty Earth ollas. I have two more reservoirs to add, but I haven't fully decided yet on how I'm lay things out so in the meantime I'm occasionally filling the ollas with a mobile reservoir. One of my favorite parts of the system is that all the fittings are push-to-connect so I can do stuff like this on a dime, instead of having to whip out the lighter 😂. #irrigation #gardenwatering #ollas #gardenwatering #waterwisegarden #waterwisegardening #containergardening #urbangardening

Nothing will humble you and prickle you up more than transplanting dragonfruit. Yes I have gloves, no I did not wear them. Why? I left them out in the rain and they are DRENCHED. #UrbanGardening #gardenseason #gardeningseason #dragonfruit #growfruit #growyourownfood #growyourownfruit
