Why is it, if a man or woman feels "called" by god to go on missions and preach from street-corners, or talk to strangers on the bus or go door to door or go around online confronting non-believers with "the good news," that's regarded as a positive loving caring thing by society? Telling people they are sinners, born corrupt, in need of fixing, and then threatening them with descriptions of eternal damnation and hellfire if they don't change their ways and believe, accept, conform...that's a positive, loving thing? But when a former Christian, who decides after much soul-searching, questioning, research and breaking out of a box she has lived in without question for more than half her life, gets fire in her belly to try to do the same thing as an atheist...that's negative? That's "hate?" Really? I too want to help people, and I like to think I might be. For the first time in my life I feel I am doing something positive--standing for something positive. It's not about hate, but love.
