The Precious is derived from the esteemed Gremlin model, a board we love for its versatility and despite often being pegged as a ‘groveler’, effortlessly transcends such labels. Pyzel embarked on refining the Gremlin concept, aiming for a sleeker, more performance-oriented rendition. By slimming down the width and refining the rails, Pyzel has crafted a board that maintains volume through a step deck, a feature cherished by many. This design choice not only retains essential foam, but also imbues the board with heightened sensitivity and high-performance capabilities along the rail. The inclusion of a concave within the step deck not only enhances stability but also augments paddle power, offering a subtle yet significant advantage.
The Precious paddles fast, surfs fast and has a really well-balanced feel, and it gets on a rail surprisingly easily for a board that packs in a good wedge of volume. Once you get in on a rail the turns are smooth and controlled, in good waves under the feet of a good surfer you can feel that it will go vertical but for us mere mortals it’s a really pleasing board to surf.
