Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه اللّٰه said:

"Seek your heart in three places: when listening to the Qur'an, in gatherings of remembrance, and in times of solitude.

If you cannot find your heart, then ask Allah to grant you one, for you have none."

O Allah! Purify my heart from hypocrisy, my actions from riyā, my tongue from lies and my eyes from treachery; You are aware of the treachery of the eyes and what the hearts conceal.

Marwān ibn Sālim al-Muqaffaʿ said:
I saw ibn ʿUmar رضي الله عنه holding his beard with his hand and cutting what exceeded the handful of it. He (ibn ʿUmar) said that the Prophet ﷺ said when he broke his fast:

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Dhahabaẓ-ẓamaʾu, wabtallatil-ʿurūqu, wa thabatal-ʾajru ʾin shāʾ Allāh

The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allāh wills.

[Sunan Abī Dāwūd 2357, Graded Hasan]
