★BIG NEWS★ New Online Lessons Starting Soon!

Happy New Year, everyone! 新年 明けまして おめでとうございます!Thank you very much for always supporting our channel. There are still three months until we start making videos on Let’s ask Shogo again, but I wanted to tell you something really important today…! I’ll be starting “Yushin Ryu Iai (katana martial art) Online Lessons” on January 12th, 2024! Yushin Ryu is a Katana swordsmanship Ryu style I’ve been training for about two years. I will be the interpreter and sub-instructor of every class.

▼What is "Yushin Ryu Katana Skills”▼
Yushin Ryu is a rare katana martial art Ryuha style that teaches three forms of katana swordsmanship: Iai (katana drawing), Kenjutsu, and Tameshigiri (mat cutting). It is a two-katana style that trains the skills of the typical Uchi-katana, shorter Wakizashi, and dual-katana wielding. The left-hand drawing/sheathing of the katana and the Women’s Iai Kata are rare techniques that are unique to this Ryuha.

Watch more videos of Yushin Ryu Katana Skills: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLp...

▼Why You Should Choose Our Online Lessons▼
★Learn Directly from the 2nd Headmaster: Seto Yushin Sensei
Your instructor will be the young and talented successor headmaster, Seto Yushin Sensei. He will demonstrate his amazing skills, watch you practice, give you feedback, and answer any questions you have about the techniques.

★Learn Wakizashi and Two-Katana Wielding
There are more than 100 Ryuha styles in katana martial arts, but most well-known styles only train with the longer Uchi-katana. However, our style, Yushin Ryu, is a two-katana style that trains with both the Uchi-katana and shorter Wakizashi. Therefore, you can train Wakizashi skills and two-katana-style techniques.

★Earning Official Dan Ranks and Participating in Training Camps/Competitions
You will be invited to our annual events for Dan rank promotion exams and Shizan (mat cutting) tournaments by joining our online lessons. We will also hold 3-day training camps before each event where you can actually train with us in person to boost your skills.

★Shogo (Let's ask Shogo) will Interpret Everything Perfectly in English
Shogo from Let's ask Shogo (1.7M subs), who is a student of Yushin Ryu himself (3rd Dan), will interpret everything in English perfectly. If you have any questions for Yushin Sensei, he will be happy to help anytime.

★Archived Videos are Free to Rewatch Anytime
Even if you miss a class or the regular lesson time doesn't fit your schedule, every lesson will be recorded for you to rewatch as many times as you like. Whenever you join our online lessons, you can access all the previous lessons to catch up to the classes anytime.

For more information about our Yushin Ryu and the online lessons that we provide, please visit our official website (yushinkankyoto.com/). If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment. I look forward to seeing you in class very soon!

<Very close to reaching my goal… Another step toward my big dream!>

“Let's ask Seki Sensei,” a new channel launched on January 1 of this year, has reached 3/4 of its goal this month (We are aiming to achieve 100,000 subscribers by the end of this year, but we already have more than 79,000 subscribers). It is all due to your support that we have been able to come this far in less than half a year. We will continue to do our very best to show the world the fascination of Kobudo, ancient Japanese martial arts.

Let's Ask Seki Sensei is a YouTube channel where you can learn the techniques of a Kobudo Ryuha (Asayama Ichiden Ryu) with a history of over 400 years. Seki Sensei, the 22nd headmaster of the school, generously shares his stunning skills with us. The techniques of the Samurai of the Sengoku period (1467~1615) include elaborate skills that are unimaginable in modern Budo.

Seki Nobuhide Sensei's Profile:
-Kobudo Asayama Ichiden Ryu 22nd Head Master
-Muhi Ryu Iaijutsu 15th Instructor
-Muso Shinsen Jushin Ryu Instructor
-Shinto Muso Ryu Jo-jutsu Instructor
-Isshin Ryu Kusarigama-jutsu Instructor
-AJKF Iaido 8th Dan, Jodo 7th Dan, Kendo 5th Dan

The following videos are particularly popular on this channel…

・How "Throw" Draw is Actually Used in a Real Fight
https://youtu.be/Uk_9lIne9u4
・Proving that the Saya Sheath is as Powerful as the Katana Blade
https://youtu.be/cd5FiSVaxQk
・Proving Why the Jō (Japanese Staff) is So Strong
https://youtu.be/7nOMQIUFuaQ

If you haven't seen these videos yet, be sure to check them out. I guarantee you that it will greatly change your values towards iaido and swordsmanship.

☆☆☆☆☆

As I always say, my dream is "To make all Japan Lovers' Dreams Come True!"

It is a shame that Seki Sensei's skills which he has dedicated almost 50 years of his life to hone are confined to only his dojo in Ibaraki prefecture in Japan. There are many people around the world who want to learn from him, but there was no bridge to connect them. So I wanted to be that bridge.

I will continue to do my best to preserve Japanese traditional culture and make Japan a better place for future generations. It would be great if you can continue to support me on my journey.

P.S. I’m going to be starting 3 other huge projects from the beginning of June, so please look forward to more information

<Our New Baby Boy, Zen is Born!>

We are happy to announce that our third baby, Zen was safely born on December 28th JST! Harumi is super healthy too (I was able to see them for 5 minutes keeping a 2m distance🤣).

Please give Harumi some time for her to recover from the delivery. She makes the thumbnails and does video editing, so we will be back on track with posting videos in February. But we will be doing a Livestream on January 2nd to introduce Zen to you✨

Happy holidays everyone, and thank you so much for always supporting us!

P.S. Does Zen look like me or Harumi?🤔

《Want to meet me in Kyoto? Welcome to the most authentic samurai training experience in Japan!》

I'm proud to announce that I'm back to working in the tourism industry in Kyoto again. I've officially become the interpreter of the 90-minute samurai experience held by Yushinkan Kyoto: "Samurai Training with Modern-day Musashi." I'm very happy that I finally have somewhere I can welcome you to meet me in Kyoto.

(Make your reservation here)
www.airbnb.com/experiences/4577764?locale=en

The content of this experience:
1. Getting dressed in the training gear
2. Learning how to draw and sheath the katana safely
3. Learning how to swing the katana correctly
4. Cutting rolled tatami mats with a real katana
5. Watching the master's katana performance

Yes, I actually introduced this experience in one of my videos about a year ago. After I took part in this activity, I fell in love with the skills of the ryuha, and the kindness of the members, and have been training here as an apprentice for more than half a year now.

"Chopping Up Mats with Katana in Real Samurai Armor at a Dojo in Kyoto, Japan"
https://youtu.be/MqBCAC42zAM

Watching the samurai master’s skills who has been training since he was 3 years old, and actually getting your hands on a real katana to chop mats will be an experience you will never forget. And I will give you clear instructions and happily answer any questions about katana, samurai, and martial arts. We will provide you with everything you need for your training, so all you need is an excited heart ready to go on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Please check the link above to make a reservation. I’m looking forward to meeting you soon in Kyoto.
