Some great news, after over 40 years of nothing Play for Today is coming back on Channel 5 with new episodes! In order to prevent this channel from being nuked by copyright cops, we will not be sharing episodes of the new 2025 PFT here, however will be following the series closely and with great anticipation.

I've noticed this channel has gotten a large surge of new subscribers over the past week. Welcome to all new friends and followers. If you like the films and plays on this channel be sure to check out our MEGA archive, which has everything we've got available here plus extra plays I can't put up on YouTube due to copyright ☭

Rest in Peace Trevor Griffiths, one of the most prolific writers to work on Play for Today. Griffiths' works are timeless and remain refreshing in their Marxist perspective on contemporary social issues. If you've never seen his masterpiece, Comedians, I highly recommend it.

Happy new year!
As many of you know in addition to our YouTube channel the Play for Forever archive is hosted on the MEGA cloud drive in case the YouTube ever gets deleted. MEGA also allows us to upload plays and films that are not allowed on YouTube for copyright reasons. In order to sustain our mega cloud subscription we need to pay a yearly subscription fee. If you have the means and would like to support the archive so we can continue to pay for our MEGA cloud server please donate to our Ko-Fi. Any amount is appreciated!

The long awaited
Nigel Barton duology is finally on Play for Forever, but there's a catch. UK based viewers are unable to watch them through our YouTube channel due to copyright. If you're from the UK and want to see Stand Up, Nigel Barton and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE for Nigel Barton use a VPN to change your location or just download them from the MEGA archive (they're in the Wednesday Play folder).

Happy pride to all! In celebration of pride I had wanted to upload the 1979 Play for Today - Coming Out, but sadly the BBC's harsh copyright has prevented me from putting it up on youtube. Thankfully, I was still able to get it up on the MEGA archive (link below). James Andrew Hall's and Carol Wiseman's PFT is an important part of LGBTQ+ history and I hope you all get a chance to watch it.
Lewis, a gay writer of romantic novels, writes an article on gay issues under the pseudonym of “Zippy Grimes.” The reason for this is that he hasn’t come out yet and he doesn’t want to alienate his mainly female fan-base. The article is a great success and leads to a huge amount of reactions, mainly from other gay men who are leading a double life. He decides to meet a number of these letter writers and eventually is forced to come out.

In addition to the MEGA cloud archive and YouTube channel, the Play for Forever archive now has a third home - a physical one! I just bought this external HD to store the entire archive. It has a massive 8TB storage capacity. If the YouTube channel or MEGA goes down everything will still remain thanks to this brick. The BBC is not dedicated to protecting and sharing these lovely plays so it’s up to us.

The beautiful and underrated 1969 kitchen sink film Bronco Bullfrog is now available on the Play for Forever MEGA in the Misc. Films & Plays folder. If you've never seen it before it is a real treat. Highly recommended!
