This is Madhuri Lake, named after the actress Madhuri Dixit, as a song from the movie Koyla, starring Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit, was filmed here.

An interesting fact about the lake is that it didn't exist until 1971. That year, a massive earthquake created a large crater, which was then filled by flash floods, resulting in the lakeโ€™s formation.

However, it gained popularity after the famous song sequence was shot with Madhuri Dixit and SRK.

Today, Madhuri Lake is a fully developed picnic spot where you can enjoy delicious snacks from the army-run cafeteria and take pictures of the stunning scenery.

The lake is located 37 km from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh and can be visited en route to Bumla Pass.

Actual name of this lake is - Shungatser lake

Sela and Nura โ€“ The Forgotten Heroines of 1962

Watch the full video - https://youtu.be/e8J3Ll8oCd8

In the breathtaking heights of Sela Pass and the roaring Nuranang Waterfall lies a story of incredible courage and sacrifice. During the 1962 Indo-China War, two brave sisters, Sela and Nura, played a pivotal role in supporting the Indian Army in one of its most challenging battles. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

As the war swept through the rugged terrains of Arunachal Pradesh, Sela and Nura, locals of the region, stepped forward to aid the soldiers fighting on the front lines. Sela, the elder of the two, was known for her strength and determination. She guided Indian troops through treacherous mountain paths, using her knowledge of the terrain to help them navigate difficult areas. She and Nura also provided food, water, and medical assistance to the troops, often risking their own lives to ensure the soldiers had what they needed.

But it was during one of the fiercest clashes that tragedy struck. Sela, while guiding a group of soldiers, was caught in enemy fire and lost her life. Her sacrifice, however, was not in vain. Nura, though heartbroken by her sisterโ€™s loss, refused to give up. She continued to help the soldiers, offering her invaluable support and aiding in the eventual retreat and regrouping of the forces.

In honor of their bravery, the high-altitude Sela Pass was named after Sela, and the magnificent Nuranang Waterfall was named in memory of Nura. These two natural wonders stand as living monuments to the sisters' heroism, their legacy flowing like the waterfalls and standing tall like the mountains.

Their untold story may not be found in every history book, but it is forever etched in the mountains and waters of Arunachal Pradesh. ๐ŸŒฟโœจ
