Hey everyone! Our new single “Heart Problems” is out now. Co-written by Zack and our original bass player, Kyle, this tune serves as the number one, big ol’ unabashed, genuine, bona fide, powerhouse, 3-part harmony track on the album. Our favorite parts include producer Brian Douglas Philips’ groovy, galloping bass, Fred Mandujano’s drumming (that SNARE!), Jacob Hildebrand’s subdued but exactly the right amount of tasty guitar, Zack’s dynamic vocal performance, Catherine’s beautiful harmonies, and Greg’s harmony and piano playing. Add incredible mixing by Brian, and mastering by Voyager Mastering, and…well, I guess we’ve listed just about everything:) Enjoy!

The Barber, The Filmmaker, The Drone-Operator: A Music Video Story. It all started when I learned the important lesson that every man needs a good barber, ideally one with a sweet classic car and great taste in music. Enter, @dapperbyderek. The owner of one of the coolest cars ever built, an American-made 1967 Ford Mustang, Derek was gracious (crazy?) enough to trust us musicians behind her wheel all day, and for that I wholeheartedly thank him—go check out his barbershop. But no film is possible without a man behind the camera, and for that we turned to our longtime friend and Blue Water all-star @travis.daves. “I’m all in,” said Travis when his eyes beheld the Mustang, which set off a chain reaction leading to what I think is one of the best music vids we’ve ever had, and he’s ever made. Thank you, Trav. Finally, I’d like to thank my beautiful cousin, @clairekibodeaux, who along with being an amazing musician apparently knows how to competently fly a drone, capturing some sweet shots that would’ve required a million-dollar helicopter budget 30 years ago. The whole experience was just so much fun, and we hope the video makes you feel something good enough to share it with all your friends:) And yes, Greg did learn to drive it faster than me, but we don’t need to dwell on that…YouTube video link in bio. #americanmade #mustang #originalsong #musicvideo #nostalgia #stories watch video on watch page

If Springsteen and Steinbeck wrote a song with three-part harmony about a time when folks cared about quality, it would sound like this: bwhb.lnk.to/AmericanMaID Our NEW single "American Made" is out now!

The roots of some boyhood memories run deep. Like watching my dad leave for work, the Colt 1911 Government Model pistol on the Sam Browne belt, his silver medal of St. Michael the Archangel—patron saint of police officers—always close by. I can see him grab his coffee and wave goodbye as my mother and I watch the “black and white” squad car pull out of the driveway. I remember the sound of typewriters and the smell of cigarette smoke down at the PD—just like in the old cop movies. Other memories too. Dad coming home from work with scrapes, bruises, and cuts. Sometimes broken bones. Stressed and overworked. Mom would care for him, she always made our house a home. She knew that each dangerous day could be the day our worlds were turned upside down, but if she ever worried, and I’m sure she did, she always put on a strong and hopeful face for us. A true Texas woman with a “pink granite” heart—my dad will tell you she deserves all the credit. So it wasn’t all rosy, police work comes at a cost for families, but in an “old school” milestone, my parents are happily married after 37 years.

It’s hard to talk about courage, toughness, faith, hard work, service, and commitment to family these days without receiving a chorus of eye rolls. I get it. That’s partly because they’ve been cheapened by bad art—cheesy, Hallmark-style movies and songs. I think it’s also because these “old school” values were just that, things to aspire to, though not always lived up to. But many did live up to them.

I know the subject of police can be controversial. I know that we would all, understandably, rather them stay out of our business…until we need help. But I also know something about cops—I come from a family of them. My dad and both of his brothers were policemen, as were most of their friends. Strong and selfless, tender under a tough exterior. A hilarious, slightly twisted, sense of humor that took the edge off the horrible things they’d seen. The daily struggle to choose joy over despair, to put on a smile despite having “a head full of crime scenes.” Underpaid for an almost impossible job. Protectors. These were the sort of men I grew up around, and at their best, I believe them to be real heroes. I have so many stories about them. Our album needed a classic hero tale, a knight to fight the dragon, and I’m proud to have a true story to tell about it. watch video on watch page

Have you ever seen pigs fly? Well, it’s surely happening somewhere, because I (Zack) have officially shot and directed my first music video—that’s after I stopped accidentally taking pictures with the camera instead.

For over a decade now, it’s been a part of mine and Greg’s friendship to go do something out in nature, hunting, hiking, camping, fishing etc. One of our favorite things to do, on and off tour, is to find a good river. The pattern is usually the same: Greg breaks out his fly fishing gear and majestically re-enacts A River Runs Through It, while I kick back with my favorite book and pipe, taking it all in before we go play a show. It has brought me much joy and peace over the years.

This video is a tribute to my friend, Greg, and my (in this case, literal) camera-lens perspective of that experience. It was also inspired by one of my favorite Hemingway short stories, “Big Two-Hearted River,” in which a veteran comes home from war, steps off a train and begins to process his experiences via a fly fishing trip. If you know the story, much of it is there, down to the onion sandwich.

I can’t take all the credit though. Travis Daves once again came to the rescue to edit my amateur shots and make something like a coherent story. He’s a true artist, and we are big-time in his debt. Also, shout out to Tex the dog for being a good boy during filming, and to Greg for insisting on making a proper fire, and actually catching numerous fish even though it was just a music video.

This video has a lot of meaning for us, and we hope it will for you too:) watch video on watch page
