Imaam Fakhruddin ar-Raazi (d. 1209) was a great polymath and especially a mutakallim of Islam. A mutakallim is one who defines the tenets and terms of Islamic Faith, systematises the Faith into an organic whole, and defends it logically from the philosophical challenges, a strong defence built upon the foundations from Qur’an and Sunnah.
امام فخر الدین الرّازی علیہ الرحمہ (م۔ ۱۲۰۹) ایک جامع العلوم (polymath) اور بالخصوص ایک متکلمِ اسلام شخص گزرے ہیں۔ متکلم ایک ایسے عالمِ دین کو کہتے ہیں جو عقائدِ اسلام کی مبادیات و اصطلاحات کی تعریف کرے، انھیں ایک جامعیتِ تامہ اور قواعد میں منضبط کرے، اور فلسفیانہ امتحانات کا مُدَلَّل دفاع تیار کرے، دفاع بھی ایسا مظبوط جو کہ قرآن و سنت کے صُغریٰ کُُبریٰ (foundational axioms) پر کھڑا ہوا ہو۔
