Normally I'd do a channel update each year on the channel anniversary, but I think it would be more relevant after the Mega Man X reviews are finally done. At this point, X8 is the only one that still needs scripted. I currently have the outline done so I have a rough idea of what I want the video to look like, but only about two pages of actual writing lol. I wanted to get more of this done by now, but The games I played in 2024 ended up being 50 minutes so whatever. After that's done, I'm going to do a nice long proofread of the X6, X7, and X8 scripts, THEN I can finally start editing this stuff. I'm aiming to get all these videos done by mid-April so odds are that it'll actually get done by mid-May. Afterwards, I'll have an actual channel update two weeks after the X8 video, then a supercut of all the Mega Man X reviews two weeks after that.
In the meantime, I'm trying to give streaming another shot. After being on Twitch for years and only sometimes having someone in chat, I figured moving the streams to my 1000 subscriber YouTube channel would be the better option. It was pretty great for the first stream! I just did a stream as a test and there was like five different people in chat and I was only playing Balatro for an hour with no warning ahead of time. This single stream had a more active chat than any Twitch stream I've ever done lmao. The Pikmin 3 stream I did wasn't so lucky, though. Like two people said one thing and left lol. Fair enough I guess but it was still kind of annoying. After Pikmin 3, I'll try to find the right balance between stuff I want to play and stuff people want to watch. Hopefully I can stream Wednesday and Saturday at about 7PM EST, but the schedule's still pretty subject to change. We'll have to see what happens. The stream archive isn't going anywhere and everything is still going to dumped over there for the long-term. But I'm not totally sure how long I should keep the VODs up on the main channel in the live tab. I figure maybe a week or two at least. Let me know what you guys think.
I still plan on making stuff for the side channel I started about six months ago (evil flameguy21) but I'm not sure when I'll find time for it. I definitely got a few ideas still but between juggling everything else I'm trying to right now, I'll get to it when I get to it. I also have a secret project that I'm working on that has nothing to with YouTube. Hopefully I can have something to share about that by the end of the year but no promises. It might be something you guys are interested in. If I make good progress on it and I actually feel like talking about it publically, I'm sure I will be very normal about it on Bluesky.

I've been meaning to get back into streaming, but whenever I stream on Twitch, I only have like three viewers at best, so I was thinking of giving YouTube streaming a shot. What do you guys think of that?

Struggling to understand why Nintendo decided to make their own Spotify on the second channel

Now that the Metroid Dread video's done, here's the plan for the rest of the year and early next year. I've got a supercut of all the 2D Metroid reviews I did three years ago plus Dread coming in a few weeks. It's taking a little longer because I decided to go back and improve the subtitles for all the original videos. They were done a while ago and I've gotten a lot better at subtitles since then. I figured updating the formatting and fixing typos wouldn't be that hard to do. It's already pretty close to being done but I'd rather wait a bit before publishing it for YouTube algorithm purposes. If you want to watch the older videos before then, I won't stop you, but I'd appreciate it if you waited and just watched the supercut to inject all the YouTube algorithm juice into the same place.
As for Mega Man X reviews, that's basically the rest of the year. I think I'll play X6-X8 and write the scripts before I start editing any of the videos. So it'll probably be a longer gap in between videos, but it should be shorter after the first one goes up. Hopefully I can at least get X6 done by the end of the year. The games I played in 2024 is still happening because those videos are way easier to make than a main video. Just depending on where I'm at, it may be later in January or early February idk. But after the X reviews and the games I played in 2024 are done, I'm also making a supercut of the Mega Man X videos. And once all that's done, I'm (probably) finally doing Pokémon Emerald. This is all the stuff I'm pretty dead set on doing soon-ish so I don't want to say much about anything past that.
The video I did on why 3D platformers died did really well (really appreciate that, by the way) so I should probably use this as excuse to do more video essays, huh? I definitely want to do more of those but I'd rather wrap up all my current on-going projects first. I mainly did that and Metroid Dread to take a break from Mega Man for a bit. I've got a few ideas for more of them, but to be honest, I'd rather only make a video when I have something to say. So yeah, I want to do more of these, but who knows when I'll actually get around to it lol.
Anyway, TL;DR: I've still got stuff in the pipeline but it might take a bit to get there. Maybe YouTube actually likes me now? Only time will tell, I guess.
