Yesterday my ideas and system went smoothly. Not a cloud in the parenting sky. These wins are priceless.

Today however that very same system went awry.

Why is that?

Each and everyday despite appearing similar and having the same loving intentions is bound to catch even the most prepared parent off guard at some point.

Am I a failure as a parent?

Objectively I have failed. And I will again.

Will I stop in apathy? Only time will tell.

The mountain which is fatherhood is bestowed upon those who wish for it knowingly and some who don't. Both of which have a tremendous opportunity to create moments of glory, among the moments of trial.

Something which often runs through my mind is am I doing enough? My own performance bias (as will yours) tells me if I'm on track or not.

This questioning mind allows enquiry into improvement.

The major pay-offs I see for thinking objectively around being a Father are firstly for clarity of mind. Secondly to ensure Father and Child bond throughout their lives. And thirdly to create a harmony between the parents.

One way I personally love to create that bond is through conversation with my kids. I juxtapose where they lead the topic and the context. I meet them in their world about their interests.

Such recent interests are dynamics in writing a scary movie, how to build a fire and roast marshmallows & how Evelyn defeated the monsters.

What beauty they have in their minds.

Am I the incomprehensibly perfect parent? No

Perfect anything? Not at all.

But I can reflect on what I say and do. I can critique myself and I can grow.

I encourage all parents to address what they believe is truly just and true for their kids. To propagate the growth in themselves and their kids. Not to take their personal lessons as the rule. Question the errors of the past. Perceive the errors of the future and provide a beautiful connection between child and parent.

If at all possible have that connection with yourself and your partner too. Be a team

Each day presents us a chance to share in our children's growth. It will test us and our will to success. But by gosh when you look back you'll see all the little things that made a difference and know that with you your child stood a better chance at life.

I love beautifully presented food. This amazing cafe captures great dishes, but forgets that when posting pics you've got to become a photo editor. This is my before and after

We can produce amazing things if we have the right value behind it. What's your driving force to wake up and do what you do?
