Today we’re launching our new website. Since the raise of social networks, personal home pages have been in decline, with many people thinking that the Internet is just Facebook, Instagram or Youtube.
Social networks gave us a lot of tools to communicate, cooperate and co-create, and that’s great BUT they also stole from us the freedom, creativity and flexibility that was so common in the old days of the world-wide web.
Today, we’re reclaiming that freedom and creativity. So, we’re launching a website that will be the hub of all our activities from now on. We’re not going to stop using social media, you’ll always find something from us at Instagram, Facebook or Youtube. But here we’re creating something more meaningful to us. Here we are going to tell you our story, our mission to Kyoto, the backstage of studio, the story behind many of our tracks and so much more. Feel free to wander around and sign our guestbook so we know that you’ve been here!
BTW this website is hosted on our own webserver (called “Alternarama“, a Raspberry Pi 4 running Ubuntu Server) in our studio. So, by visiting this website you are basically entering our own studio 🙂 Be welcomed and enjoy!

Emerging from a fascination with Japan’s timeless spirit, The Kyoto Connection blends electronic ambient textures, delicate melodies, and evocative soundscapes into immersive musical journeys. For over 20 years, it has explored the meeting point between East and West, weaving vintage synthesizers, field recordings, and traditional influences into compositions that feel both intimate and cinematic.
Rooted in the emotions, colors, and philosophies of Japanese culture, the project has released 16 albums that have reached millions of listeners worldwide. From Kyoto’s quiet temples to Okinawa’s sunlit shores, each work offers a journey through atmospheres where time seems to slow and contemplation takes center stage.
Recognized for its ability to merge cultural heritage with contemporary sound design, The Kyoto Connection has become a unique voice in the global ambient scene — an invitation to travel inward through music.
