Quality Guide for Redbar Clippers - you can refer clippers with audio and video problems to this post.
1. Use software or a browser extension to rip video directly from the Redbar site. I use Video DownloadHelper for FireFox and the free version only adds a watermark to videos from major platforms like YouTube. If you go for that, make sure you choose one of the videos with the highest resolution which will generally be 2560x1440. The downloads cannot be paused or restarted but there are other programs or extensions you could try. Sometimes the videos will partially compile so you can just download half of the episode or whatever you need depending on where you're going to clip it.
2. If you can't figure that out or have really slow internet use OBS Studio to record your screen while fullscreening the video at the highest quality. Go to settings -> output. Open the recording tab. I recommend formatting in .mov with the h265 codec. MP4/h264 is ok. Set preset to quality. Go to the audio tab and max out the bitrate to 320 on all of your tracks. Make sure you are recording full volume and your screen is fully brightened.
3. I recommend editing the video in Davinci Resolve, but you could try to figure out how to translate the export settings over to your preferred program. While editing, lower the timeline resolution in project settings, and set your proxy media resolution to half or quarter from the playback menu. This will make the program run faster while you're editing. When you're finished, you have to change the timeline resolution back to max quality. Make sure the first thing you import is Redbar video so that you can sync the project framerate to that.
4. Export settings for DaVinci - this determines the quality of your final output. Use a custom export. Format - quicktime. Codec - h.265 . Encoder - auto. Resolution - 3840 x 2160 ultra hd. Quality - automatic best. Advanced Settings - Bypass reencode ON Use proxy media OFF Use optimized media ON Use render cached images ON Force Sizing to highest quality ON Force debayer to highest quality ON. Switch to the audio tab on the custom export page - up the bit depth to 24 or 32. This last step is why we use quicktime over mp4. Make sure your timeline resolution (project settings) is back up to 3840x2160 before you actually export. If you're not using DaVinci then figure out how to best port these settings over to your program of choice or look up a guide on max quality exporting. If your quality issue isn't related to your capture or rip it's related to your export settings.
