ATCS has finally been phased out at Howell Wye in Atlanta, which means we no longer can tell when a train is coming on NS. This will make shooting trains with a drone at Howell much more difficult as it takes time to get in the air and into position. On Saturday I missed several trains and had to drive around to different locations to try to catch them. So this week there will only be one train video, that's all the footage I could get. I will have to reconsider whether it makes any sense to continue shooting drone videos in Atlanta. The only reason I go to this location is for the quantity of trains. If I can't get in the air in time to shoot them then what's the point? I don't use a scanner, I can't understand anything they're saying so what's the point in carrying one? There's something somewhere going some place. That's about all I get out of it. I may have to go back to casual train watching, just sitting somewhere I can hear the trains coming and just wait around all day. Not nearly as productive as sitting at Howell for a few hours and being able to catch nearly every train that passes. There is one spot at Inman where you can hear trains coming from the west and using the webcam at Bim's get some advance warning about trains coming from the east. But you will miss most of the CSX action that goes in and out of Howell yard at that location. So not a perfect solution. I will have to think on it a while. But thanks for all the support!

Still waiting for YouTube to encode this second upload to 4k and nothing. It won't encode it. I just verified the video is NOT 1080, it plays 4k just fine on my computer, YouTube just won't encode it to 4k online. I've seen this problem before. It sometimes takes them a day or two to fix it on their end. Enough people have to bitch and complain before they get around to it. So this video and the next one will be delayed a few days. Sorry!

I uploaded some video over the weekend but YouTube is refusing to finish encoding it in 4K. I won’t release a video until it’s available in 4K. So I’m deleting it and uploading again.

Sorry folks. I was hoping today would be sunny so I could shoot some trains. As usual the forecasts are 100% wrong. And I don’t have any phone videos to post either. But I suppose that’s alright. This disease I have makes it difficult to enjoy all the things I used to so any reason to stay home and rest is Ok with me. Maybe I’ll catch some good stuff at lunch when I have to go to the office. Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Since the days are getting shorter and cloudier (and colder and windier) and for various health reasons I will probably only be able to release one video a week for a while. I had hoped the weekend would be sunny but not. Glad I went out at lunch a couple times this week or I’d have released nothing. 41 minutes. Not bad. Not the most exciting of videos but they can’t all be blockbusters. That’s the fun part of railfanning. You never know what might come next. I see video views are dropping off a cliff. Videos are not being promoted anymore. You gotta love algorithms. All the views go to the big time content creators, gamers and such. Oh well. I didn’t go into this for the views and I’m certainly not doing it for the money. What money? Ha! I would turn off monetization completely and not bother with it except YouTube would just stick ads in anyways and keep all the money for themselves. At least I get a few nickels and dimes here and there. Not even gas money.

All of the videos in this channel are filmed in the Atlanta, GA area unless the title indicates otherwise. People frequently ask what city is this or when was this or even what country is this. Why does it matter? It's just a train video. Enjoy it. I don't make videos to get likes or to educate people on geography. I'm not particularly interested in what the train symbols are and couldn't care less what kind of horn the locomotive has. I shoot train videos because I like trains. I share them in case anyone is interested. I don't share videos to "promote" my channel or to make ad revenue. If you don't put ads in your videos Google will monetize them anyways and take 100% of the profit and if you don't advertise they won't promote your videos so no one will ever see them. You pretty much don't have a choice.
