(Also, I did see Lorde recently put out a statement in regards to her own feelings towards the reception! She said some really interesting things about "Solar Power", and I'm glad it was an album that helped her through some difficult times!)

Hey y'all! I wanted to say in regards to the "Best New Artist Curse Video" - it's all for fun! I know it some sense it's divisive, because I was curious to see a lot of your thoughts. However, it's merely meant to poke fun at this idea a certain award can affect an artists' career. It's total speculation and none of it should be interpreted that I'm trying to void any contributions or successes these mentioned artists have provided within the industry. It's not meant to be a video taken super to heart; if you disagree that's totally okay - but it isn't intended to be as closely examined as a video on an era going awry or an artists actual fall from stardom. Just looking at career evolutions following an award that's been conflated with a theory :-)
Hey all, I hope you've been doing well! Sorry for the inactivity, of course, life likes to get in the way at the worst of times! I want to broaden my scope of artists I cover, so I'd simply like to know WHO from other genres would we like to see? I think it could be interesting to test the waters a bit. Or, which pop artists that have yet to be covered do you think could provide interesting conversation? The 'Best New Artist Curse' has been in circulation for a long while; indicating that once someone is awarded this feat, they'll suffer an inevitable tumble in success. With a brief introduction to some observations about the 'curse', we primarily go through several artists who have won this award to determine if they 'beat' this alleged curse, or if through strange coincidences, they fell victim to it.

I started this channel because of my love for pop music, and the music industry. Everything from album cycles, tour scheduling, promotional tactics and sales is all of interest to me! It's so fun to learn the ins and out of the industry, and even try to theorize why some things happen - such as artists not reaching an expected potential, or why certain songs are chosen as singles.
