Author of Wasa'il al Shia - Shaykh Hurr al Amili (rh) writes in his book, al Fawa'id al Tusiyyah [on page no. 446]: It is quite strange to claim that the author of al Fawa'id al Madaniyyah [i.e; Shaykh Muhammad Amīn al Astarabadi (rh)] is the leader of the Akhbaris. How can one prove this claim when, in fact, the true leader of the Akhbaris is the Prophet (saww) and the Imams (as), as they (Akhbaris) did not engage in Ijtihad, but instead took their rulings from the ahadith. The authentic traditions about them indicate that for approximately three hundred and fifty years during the time of the Imams (as), and for seven hundred years into the period of occultation, the Shias relied exclusively on ahadith.
