In the autumn of 2009, Bravo Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, a company of Marine Reservists out of Frederick, Maryland, deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Their objective was to pacify the remote and hostile Helmand Province, then the deadliest theater in the War on Terror, and bring it under the control of the Afghan government. Three of them would give their lives to that mission over the next eight months- a mission which, even ten years later, has yet to be accomplished.
