From A Cowboy's Point of View, Hope yall enjoy and please share with others.
I have learned a lot from the old timers I was around for many years, the men who sat tall in the saddle but also stood for the values that made our rural and ranch communities a part of society that stood the test of time. From the Dust Bowl to the Great Depression, these folks had what it took to weather the storm. They understood the true meaning of riding for the brand, standing up for what was right and true in the world. Men and women I wanted to be like.
I was asked not long ago what would I suggest we do to truly make our nation and our leaders wake up and saddle up, get back on the right trail and become the Nation our forefathers worked to build.
Now this isn't about politics or what party I stand for. I believe you can take a stand, but stand on the right side and that is the side of what this country was founded on. Our trust in God to provide, the power of prayer and our trust in our neighbor and the will to do right by others, as we would do right by them. Now remember this is just my point of view. I am reminded of a quote by President Ronald Reagan “If we ever forget we are one Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under.”
I have always put more trust in Calloused Hands than Calloused Hearts. A handshake goes a long way in my neck of the woods, it is more binding than any contract I have ever seen. When you shook the hand of one of those Old Timers it was full of integrity and promise, and you could count on them to be there for you when things got tough.
. My dad taught me that perspiration and perseverance will make you a better person. I had many dates with a posthole digger and T-Post driver, two tools we used to build fences. Both of which I think our younger generation should get acquainted with, but also all those folks up there on Capitol Hill. Digging holes and stretching wire,is not just about building boundaries, it is about taking pride in what you have accomplished, something that will stand against the winds of time that blow against it. I learned you want get all you need out of life by wishing for it, but you can by working for it. Give it all you got everyday, every breath, and good things will come about.
My mother not only taught me to cook but how to live, she said “God brought you into this world, and gave you two things, your family and your word, take care not to tarnish either.”
And speaking of family and your word I remember this from
grade school in a American History class we studied the U.S.Constitution and in that great document was this line that always stood out to me “We the People” and If I’m not mistaken it still applies today these words should have meaning and we should all live by them for it is written,But I would like to add this one line to it, “We the People, and We Should all Be Family.”
So to round this all up, I reckon I would suggest we trust in God, we treat each other like family and we work hard, but also we work together.
