Hey everyone! I'm looking for full time or freelance work as a technical artist or game programmer - here's just a few of the things I've worked on! āœØ

If you're interested and have an opportunity you think I'd be interested in, contact me using the details in my YouTube profile and let me know what the project is!

Part 9 of my Shader Graph Basics series will launch on Tuesday 28th May šŸŽ‰! This tutorial will continue from where Part 8 left off, and we will cover two more effects:

- A wave foam effect šŸŒŠ where parts of the water near objects are tinted white, with distortion provided by a noise texture
- An edge glow effect šŸŒŸ where the mesh UVs are used to make the edges of the object glow, and intersecting regions also have emissive glow applied.

The video clocks in at around 18 minutes and you can catch it early by supporting me on Patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/video-shader-9-2-104777878

The next two parts of my Shader Graph Basics series will focus on shaders which can detect intersections with other objects in the scene!

Part 8, which releases on Tuesday 21st May, will focus on a faux screen-space ambient occlusion effect, where we apply darkened edges to objects that are close to other objects, and Part 9 will cover a glowing edge effect which snaps to intersection points and a wave foam shader which I think turned out looking super nice!

I also created a bonus Patreon-exclusive video which goes into a lot more detail about the graphics pipeline and why we use 4D homogeneous coordinates to represent points in 3D space - it's sort of a companion piece to this tutorial, and you can check it out here: www.patreon.com/posts/patreon-104352980

Tomorrow (May 7th), I'll be releasing Part 7 of my Shader Graph Basics tutorial series! In this video, we'll learn about ways you can use lighting concepts outside of the Lit shader, including a Fresnel highlight effect and cel-shaded diffuse lighting!

My next video is coming out TOMORROW, April 10th! In PokĆ©mon Scarlet and Violet, you can terastallize your PokĆ©mon, turning them crystalline and changing their type. This tutorial will explore different ways of applying the crystallization effect to my favourite PokĆ©mon (just a Canada goose), including forcing the mesh to use flat faces instead of smooth shading within the shader, and applying reflections to each triangle of the mesh. I can finally use this power to šŸ‘ Terastallize šŸ‘ My šŸ‘ Geese!

My next video will be a remake of my first ever video on this channel, all about dithered transparency! The original is a little outdated and I used a terrible quality mic, so I decided it could do with a bit of a touch-up to bring it in line with the most recent Unity versions and add extra details. It'll be out on April 2nd, so not long to wait, but you can see it early via Patreon here: patreon.com/danielilett

The next part of my Shader Graph Basics series is out TOMORROW! This time, I'll be covering Lit shaders and we'll explore the different ways you can change the appearance of a Lit shader, including smoothness, normals, metallic, and so on!

Part 7 is also going to cover lighting since it is such a big topic. Stay tuned for more details soon!

Tune in tomorrow for my first ever Godot video, in which I cover dissolve, hologram, and hull outline effects using VisualShaders! I had a lot of fun finding out the differences between it and Unity's Shader Graph and I hope you'll enjoy my journey of discovery too!
More Unity videos are on the way too so keep your eyes peeled for more information soon.

Hey everyone! I finally set aside the time to give Godot a go over the holidays and I'm now ready to put my thoughts on it into a video/article! It's been super interesting using a new game engine and I hope you'll be able to hear my perspective soon :D

Many of you are only interested in Unity stuff - no need to worry in that case, because I have more parts of my beginner Shader Graph series on the way and many more videos beyond that - here's an upcoming MGS-style stealth camo shader.
