The War of the Five Emperors, A tale of Civil War, of the end of a Golden Age. The Final Days of the High Imperial Era. The pinnacle of Enlightenment for the Astrians and the extent of their majesty. The decline of empire was heralded by the Celestial Uprising, believers in the old ways of the dead god King Airestos. The oppression instituted by the followers of the Starborn truth, outlawing all worship and the desecration of the old temples. Sparked the uprising, across the Astrian world, the old followers lashed out, in the chaos Emperor Varos, the ruling Vahla dynasty member. Scattered his generals and children across the empire, from it's heart to the westfold and the southern reaches of Korinos. Where the followers of the old way lashed out against the empire. The Starborn managed to defeat the uprising but at a terrible cost. Emperor Varos in the battle at Senatorium in Reverra, was mortally wounded.
The fallen emperor recalled his children to him, and Tilius, the emperor's ambassador, along with Varos himself, issued a new imperial decree, one which would Banish the followers of the old ways to the distant isle of Nyri. There they could practice their faith in peace, while the port cities would remain in the Starborn's control. It was believed that it was here, where his first born son, Prince Esto would abdicate his position, for his younger brother Prince Brutari. However before the other heirs of Varos could arrive, Emperor Varos perished from his wounds. Following his death, Empress Zera was imprisoned and, shortly after that, murdered. The exact details of why she was detained and who killed her are buried in rumors spread by the common citizens and nobles. Brutari raised his banners in rebellion, upon hearing this news he swore to bring about Justice for the murder of Empress Zera, and put an end to the Tyranny of Esto. While Esto himself did not relinquish the throne of stars, raising his own banners against his younger brother. Sparking the first major civil war since the Rise of the first King Canar and the fall of the corrupt Republic.
The conflict would spread beyond the heartlands engulfing the entirety of the westfold, while the high kingdoms refused to interfere in the conflict, Princess Armaine, fled from the westfold and from the generals of Brutari into the high kingdom of Aranor. She refused to take a side with either of her elder brothers, focused more on the the mysterious murder of Empress Zera. While the High Kingdoms were not keen on the princess taking refuge, as they were duty bound and oath sworn to the Emperor Varos, the King of Aranor reluctantly provided her asylum. While the generals of either side pressured them to relinquish her into their custody.
While Brutari and Esto waged war on one another, the younger siblings, Prince Julen and Princess Ceri, under the advice of their generals, raised their banners in Korinos in an attempt to restore order and prevent war from spreading to the remaining imperial territories. However, this action did the exact opposite. War, now the Empire, had fractured thrice. The power of the princes and princesses began to yield as governors seized control of various provinces and armies while pledging loyalty to the heirs, and heiresses. It was clear that many opportunists were seizing power. This would be the where prominent families would began to form large great houses. Though only those who sided with the victor would retain their control to any degree.
The fighting and it's scale would eclipse the Astro Dominion Wars, As Korinos and Astria were engulfed in war. Cities who did not pledge their support to either side would be ransacked by either. The devastation destroyed many of the grand High Era structures and marvels of the Astrian world.
As the fighting dragged on, one by one, the heirs of Varos perished. Until only Princess Armaine remained.
She had managed to convince the high kingdoms and even a great wizard of the Galahadra to intervene, though she labored to uncover the truth; ultimately, its unveiling was far darker than anyone could have foreseen. The tattered banners of her brothers and sister, fluttered over every corner of the empire. In the end, the Empire was now weak. with news of the secession of the Avagarian colonies pailing in comparison to the rumors that bespoke of the fall of the high kingdom of Solongard to the Barbarians from the far west, hailing from the Ogorial. Those that called themselves Nephir.
Just a sampling of the lore we are building. This is actually a part of the Battle of broken storms lore video series. Though the War of the Five Emperors is two hundred years old by the time of Emperor Daros's reign and the great retreat from the collapsing westfold against the Nephir. The idea of this was to explore the events that had led to the decline of one of the greatest powers in Terrestria. The Astrian Empire. Though the work has led me to lay the ground work for the War of the five emperors to be another Lore series. Let me know if this is an era you guys would like to see expanded. It's been refreshing to work on this as part of the building of the great histories and expanding it. I can already see it's character roster inflating, our sort of Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
All work in progress of course. I really like expanding the depth of the history of each faction. Even though the High Imperial Era is kind of mostly "MOSTLY PEACEFUL" it goes out with an incredible bang. Leading to the great decline, and two centuries of near constant warfare. Sets up so much. Hope you guys like it!

Echoes of the Second age, Battle of Broken Storms. Two lore videos are in production, the big wait is on the Panels.
Echoes of the Second Age, is set in a time before Terrestria, about the Rise of the Rohiran to the Stars and beyond. As they struggle for dominance in the Dreaming Way Galaxy. Whereas Battle of Broken Storms, takes place at the end of the Two Centuries War with the Nephir and Astria, a pivotal battle that shook both peoples to their core. Ultimately changing the course of the world in that region forever.
The biggest setting, takes the greatest amount of time to craft, carefully woven. Super stoked about getting these out, now we wait together chatfish while the artist perform their craft!

The Armies of Astria are the March, Behold the First Imperial Army; their legacy is one filled with the highest of honors, God Slayers, The first to land on Hellastro, the first to storm the fortress of Amon. The First has always been led by a Vahla, the last vestiges of the high imperial era. Of what was can be again, as they march to the gap of Aranor. The thundering storms of the Nephir's powerful shamans, as their Illumine bellows echoe off the mountains. Shaking the very earth itself. A battle for the ages, is about to unfold.
