Alaska Airlines First Class Dining

Route: Reagan National to San Francisco

Entree - Thai shrimp, with steamed vegetables and rice - shrimp is spicy and overall tasty but the green beans aren't properly prepared as the stems have not been removed and the rice is too dry

Salad - not memorable...

United Airlines Polaris Business Class Dining

Route: Shanghai to San Francisco

Dinner: Turbot Filet with mushroom, potato and tomato

Pre-arrival Breakfast: Chinese-style congee with shrimp and fried bread sticks

Overall, a mediocre meal with average taste and portion

United always needs to keep up with their dining game

Air China Business Class Meal

Route: Changchun to Chengdu Shuangliu

Starter: Mixed almonds and raisins, diet coke

Main plate: Marinated fish with steamed vegetables, sliced beef salad, red bean with white rice, and fruit

Total flight time was almost 4 hours - longest domestic Chinese flight I have ever taken

Air China Domestic First Class Meal

Route: Chengdu Shuangliu to Shanghai Hongqiao

Starter: Mixed nuts and diet coke
Meal: Beef brisket, steamed veggies, stewed chicken, garlic bread, rice, and chocolate cake

Taste is average but portion is filling

Unique Priority Pass Perk - Massage @ Airport

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport

Comfort Zone:
A massage parlor that offers a variety of massage services - head, shoulder, back, leg, foot, etc.

Priority Pass gets you a 30-min massage on one part of body. Tried foot massage and experience was nice. No frills and staff are efficient and proficient in what they do. Guests can also choose to pay out of pocket for additional services but the price is double of what a massage parlor in Chengdu city center would charge.

My feet felt great before boarding my flight.

ANA Business Class In-flight Dining

Route: Tokyo Haneda to Shanghai Pudong

United Airlines Polaris Business Class In-flight Dining

Route: Hong Kong to San Francisco

Dinner: Iron steak, salad and shrimp

Breakfast: Waffle, fruit and croissant

First off, I was quite impressed by the presentation of the dishes - looks like the flight attendants are getting better at preparation of the meal.

And taste-wise, the meal is within my expectation. The steak is a bit too chewy - but I guess the steak provided on the airplane cannot be made a lot better than this.

Shenzhen Airlines Economy Class Meal

Route: Shanghai Hongqiao to Shenzhen

Fish (tilapia?) soy sauce fired rice in the aluminum container

Bread roll, pickles and rice crackers in the box

Not bad for a two-hour domestic flight, although the taste of the dish is mediocre at best

United Airlines Domestic First Class Meal

San Francisco to Baltimore (red eye flight)

Glass noodle with assorted chopped vegetables - bland taste but overall a healthy dish

Chilled beef slices - bland taste (I didn't add the sauce provided) but a bit too chewy - protein source of this meal and not really an enjoyable appetizer

Blueberry pie - surprisingly delicious and not very sweet - actually I wanted a second piece after finishing this one

Bottom line: it appears that United is constantly improving its catering on domestic flights (and flight attendants seem to start to love their jobs now - compared with those servicing international long-haul flights)
