Why?
Well, we need to show that we know how to communicate properly in different situations.
This is called ‘tone’ and ‘register’, and a big mistake that students make is using them incorrectly.
As a rule of thumb, use the following styles for the following situations:
Informal:

🔸 family
Semi-formal:
🔸 work situations
🔸 strangers
Formal:
🔸 business situations
🔸 university
