A bit of a cryptic hint for what the next video will be about...

In other news, I've had to set up a PO box address for some forthcoming projects, and people made encouraging noises about wanting to send me postcards (I love postcards)

For letters, postcards and small packets:
Ash L G , Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA, United Kingdom

For parcels:
Ash L G , Unit 141985, Courier Point, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FH, UK

(If you're a business and want to send me something, please drop me an email first at my business email ashlgyoutube@yahoo.com)

Hello friends! A couple of quick updates from me,

- yes, I've seen the Jenny Nicholson Galactic Starcruiser video. No, I probably won't make a video about it - unlike Evermore, which was a great framework for talking about common pitfalls in LARP as it accidentally replicated a lot of issues, the Star Wars hotel seems to found it's downfall in copying some of the vague trappings of a LARP while not actually doing any roleplay and then wondering why people weren't having a super immersive time. I didn't go, I don't have any first hand experience, so that's it, that's the whole video. Short of Jenny suddenly calling me up to ask my opinions on how they could have made it more LARPy, there's really nothing much to talk about

- I'm getting back into 3D printing again, only my machine is like 4 years old with a tiny build plate so it's limiting my options. While I stare longingly at large format machines, tell me - is this something you'd be interested in? There seems to be a lot of craft and LARP related 3D prints (A rigid heddle loom! A circular sock machine! CHAINMAIL) but I also don't know how many people have a 3D printer or are all that interested in content about 3D printing. What are your thoughts?

- Youtube keeps telling me I should set up channel memberships - I don't want to take anything away from the Ko-Fi supporters who have been my heroes for many years now, and I don't have the capacity to do eg. extra videos. Would you be interested in a channel membership instead of/as well as Ko-Fi? What kind of perks would make it worth it for you? Do you want custom emoji? Would livestreams entice you in?

That's all for now, see you on Monday for a new video and in the mean time - I hope you've had a chance to take a look at my latest video about searching for LARP and other fantasy costumes on the internet!

Hello friends! I’m working on editing the next Halloween instalment, which is a styling/costume design video, but I went way overboard in the number of looks I did.

I know that two part videos typically don’t do very well, but also one long video is a big time investment and we’re all busy people (hence why I often try and aim for the 15-25 minute mark)

What kind of videos do you prefer? Both in terms of “should I split this styling video into two” and “what kind of length appeals for future content”

Cat tax for the algorithm; I'm in the process of finishing up a couple of videos, the follow up petticoat video will take longer to finalise - I know you're all desperate for pockets but hang in there! - which one would you like to see on the channel first?

(Please pick the video description you'd like best and vote for your favourite Thursday pic in the comments, the other way around will cause madness)

Hello friends! My schedule has been entirely floored by the heroically arduous task of "going to a larp" (I took Monday off and everything and I'm STILL tired)

I'm expecting to finish up editing a video for this coming Monday as well as getting back into uploading some shorts - I really enjoy making short form videos and I feel like the platform on Youtube has matured enough that it's now actually worth doing (buy me a non alcoholic drink and ask me about it not on the internet sometime)

If you'd like to stay even more up to date on what I'm doing, you can now also find me on Facebook (search for Ash L G, same icon) and Tiktok (Ash L G but also ashlg14 for disambiguation purposes) as well as instagram (Ashlgcostumes) - in theory you can follow all of them but in practice you will get a lot of the same stuff in all these places (instagram cross posts to Facebook, this community tab will cross post to Facebook, reels, shorts and Tiktok will fundamentally have the same content) - over time I might look at diversifying content across the platforms a bit more but right now this hobby is already basically a job

Anyway, hope to see you in the next video, where we should be taking a look at some Regency/early Victorian inspired menswear!

Hello friends! Just popping in quickly to let you know that this week's video is going to be slightly delayed - I'm currently not able to film due to sickness. But I'm hoping to be well and back soon!

Welcome to February! How did everyone do with clearing down their Pile?

I started out with 15 items, and 8 of those - honestly the quickest and easiest ones - have been completed. Two more items (hemming the grey robe and adding straps to the white brocade dress) I haven't started but I think should be fairly quick, two are due to be done in the next week or so (the red chiffon blouse and red kirtle bodice because I need to /finally/ make that kirtle video) and two have turned into much bigger projects than initially imagined (the openwork seamed kirtle, I have done the hem stitch on four panels out of twelve - and I'll still need to lace them all together and then add a neckline and cuffs - and the green renaissance dress that 'just needed eyelets' has been disassembled so I can overlock the raw edges, sew the trim on a bit more securely, and yes, add eyelets. I'm also making sleeves)

All in all, a 54% success rate that I think I can get up to 80-90% within the next month!

... Or so I thought. While putting things away, I discovered at least another 7 (seven) projects that need finishing, items that need alterations or mending, and at least one that either needs a drastic rethink or trashing and starting over. So actually it's more like a 34%-66% success rate

I do want to move on to doing some from-scratch projects again - a change is as good as a rest when you're a chaos gremlin chasing the next dopamine fix and I have a LOT of fabric that needs to get cleared - so I guess I'll meet you back here for round two in April?

Hello friends! A (slightly early) Happy New Year wish from me to all of you - I'm very much looking forward to what I've got planned for 2023 and I hope you'll all be along for the ride. I've got some ideas that I hope will make it easier to get more videos out more regularly, as well as some big exciting projects to share with you all. See you in 2023!

Hello friends! I'm now looking at my next big project and am a bit in two minds about what I want to work on next. I have a bunch of smaller things in the works (lots of medieval inspired projects alongside more larp costume content, because it's autumn and I want to be cosy) but I'm ready for another big elaborate multi-stage project! Which one are you most excited by?

Hello friends! Just to let you know I will be going live on Monday to celebrate Halloween - I'll be making some fun potion bottles and just generally around to chat and answer questions. Hope to see you there!
